We went here on my 30th birthday after arriving in amsterdam a few hours earlier.
When we walked in the staff were very attentive- straight away taking our coats and leading us to our table and asking us if we were celebrating something. When i had my sad face on about it being my 30th she said dont look so sad and made a joke out of it which was nice.
On our way being led to our table (up a spiral staircase girls be warned) it was like the scene from love actually where Colin Firth goes to propose to Aurelia with the open balcony over the diners and kitchen downstairs and the lighting which made a beautiful setting.
We chose the 5 course tasting menu which was more than enough and i eat alot! There are meat or fish options in two of the courses and we chose meat both times (veal and pork). I cant remember exactly what the courses were as they are explained in such detail prior to you eating them but they are all fantastic which is all you need to know really. For me the pork was a little undercooked but i like all meat well done and it was supposed to be pink according to the boyf! I still ate it all so it cant of been that bad.
After around course 3 they ask if you want a breather, this might be for the chefs to catch up or genuinely so you can let your food digest i'm not sure but coming from London its nice to not be rushed along. We could see everything the chefs were doing from our table which is a nice touch to know its all hygenic.
When it came to dessert they had obviously remembered it was my birthday as mine came out with happy birthday/congratulations written on it in dutch which is another nice personal touch.
The wine was a little pricey-a standard bottle of proscecco (nice as it is was) cost 40 euros! We still had two though and they continually topped up our glasses which we barely noticed.
Overall a fantastic meal for a special occasion, have already recommended to friends who are visiting in the summer.
