“Novel. City break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

It was an experience for our city break .the free ferries work like clockwork and added to the experience head out of central station and catch WERF NDSM ferry ,you can see Botel in the distance to the left. It was a cheap hotel and adequate for our needs as out quite a lot , the rooms are musty and compact! The staff were non committal and quiet , I slept well but my partner found it very noisy as paper thin walls in the cabins . The breakfast was varied and good value but again compact and busy , The shower was very good but everything gets wet , ideal place for a four night stay .

It's a hotel on a boat. Can't feel it rocking. Very easy to get to and from Central Station. Basic but clean. Room to leave bags in if you've got a later flight.Channel 26 shouldn't be on before the watershed!

Located a 20min ferry ride from the main area of Amsterdame the Botel is a place to stay when you have no other option

We stayed here with a tour group as an included room
However found out the price was more than other hotels in town

The boat/room rocks and you can get very dizzy (not usually a problem for me but it was)

The bathrooms are so small your legs are in the shower while your on the toilet

The beds are comfortable only if your so tired from walking all day that you fall asleep when your head hits the rocky pillow

the rooms are small and when you place your bags on the ground (as no other place) you have no room to move around

Breakfast is cold food and cold hot food that is not replenished when needed and flavoursome

Its an experience that am glad to never have again

it is an experience to talk about over a beer or two. Rooms small, bathroom is compact, and breakfast ok. the free ferry is a novel way to get to the city but would become a nusiance for any length of stay.good value for money, clean, and staff friendly.Amsterdam is a fun city to visit, particularly as an Autum destination.Try Humpheries resturant for good quality food, avoid drinks in Europubs,Damm square.

Not a great quality hotel. It's an interesting layout and if you want to tell your friends about staying in a boat overnight, go for it. The rooms are closet-sized though. AVOID if you are in any way claustraphobic. Staff is friendly and breakfast is alright. Relatively centrally located, but not ideal. OK place - no major complaints besides room size - but I wouldn't stay again.

If you are looking for a cheap hotel not far away from the city centre, this is the place.
It's a boat with a lot of cabins and you sleep inside there, there is bathroom with shower inside the room and you can take breakfast there if you want.
The location is just opposite the Central station, crossing the river to the west, you need to take a free ferry to NDSM and, 15 minutes later, you will arrive to the NDSM pier. The Botel is just 2 minutes walking from there, you will see it next to the pier.
The rooms are small and not very clean, but for the price you pay it worths to go there.

At first glance this seems like a novel hotel. Take an old cruise ship and turn into a hotel. Well because it was so old the rooms were on the small side for a three star hotel. The bathroom could also do with being a lot bigger. My partner said I could be on the loo and wash my hair and feet at the same time (had to clean that one up).

So pros and cone

Pros
Very quiet area, very clean rooms, free parking, nice staff, budget breakfast but better than nothing. Now location is pros and cons, loved it as it was out of the liverly party town but you have to plan your trip and timings to factor in the ferry. But it is free.

Cons
Small room and bathroom, needs updating as its tired and I agree with others and it is quite smelly. Also be warned there is a juke box that plays till 12.45 and if your not night owls like us you will be kept awake. Also be warned by the advertised "free in house movies" this is 24 hour hard core porn. I was flicking through the channels in the afternoon to find an English channel and found it. I don't shock easy but was alarmed to find it 2 channels down from CBBC. You have been warned.

So would I stop again, probably.
