“Straight out of a 70's sitcom - good fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

An excellent place to stay for a group of friends looking for cheap accommodation in Amsterdam. Not so good for a family or romantic trip. Teeny rooms and bathrooms - as one of our party said 'you can shower, wee and brush your teeth at the same time' as are that small. The bar is furnished in lovely 70's Formica which is very clean for its age. Mixed staff - the night staff are brilliant and the measures in the bar got larger as the night went on. The breakfast staff didn't seem to realise that they would run out of food and in a typical Dutch manner were not happy when they were asked for more bacon. Brilliant free ferry bus to the centre (and the best bakery at the terminal - Brood). Would definitely come back for a fun mini break

Probably the best views in Amsterdam. From our room we could see across the Ij to Central station but also had view of a submarine and many working boats tugs, cruise ships and barges. The rooms are small but clean, comfortable and adequate. Just be careful in the bathroom - when you lean back to reach the toilet paper, it is easy to accidentally press the flush button! Breakfast choice is excellent but very limited evening food so eat out.

Stayed 4 nights from 18 March to 22 March inc. Had room on level 4 facing the water. It was silent all night long and slept soundly on a comfy double bed. You only have to do the minimum amount of internet research to find the boat (I think some people expect signposts off the plane to point them to their room!)
The trains run like clockwork from the airport basement to Amsterdam Centraal. If you head out of the railway station past platform 15 you'll see the ferries as you exit the station. The furthest one to your left is the one to NDSM wharf. A clock over the boarding jetty countdowns to the next ferry and unlike the UK, what it says is when the ferry comes and goes! It's free and unless youre very unlucky (we were lucky) it doesnt have any drunken Brits on it.
The staff on the Botel were very friendly and the breakfast fine (I gave the dodgy looking eggs a miss) and plentiful. You can easily find good hotels in central Amsterdam too, but if money is no object (up to 4 times the price) then go ahead and use them. Would not hesitate to recommend the Botel. Embrace the culture and go for it!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: 4th level (this is only 2 levels up from the quayside as reception is on level 2) and water view.

I was a bit put off by the idea of a floating hotel , but my concerns where soon gone
The location was great (yes it is on the docklands ) but the whole experance and the regular aand free ferry to the city centre added somting.
The rooms where spotless and very well heated
The bar area was the same and drinks where cheaper than most pubs

You get what you pay for and this did not dissapoint
I would also recommend the kaffie (bar and dinner ) on the corner great place to eat!

Room Tip: Ask for one on the water side you can see the boats/ships and the russian sub

The rooms are VERY basic. You can barely move in the shower and its like a hose, really bad water temp as well (just went between hot and cold every few seconds). Staff were friendly enough. It could be hard to find if you dont know exactly where to go (have to get a ferry from behind central station - on the plus side the ferry is free). Wasn't the worst experience ever, but there are better places to stay in the city.

We went with a group of people in 2012 and i thought for the price for the botel was good value for money. It is very basic but what do you expect for the price? the rooms are clean and heated. The boat does rock but after a day you get used to it.

Had a night mare finding the place but once your here well worth it, very clean room beds ok maybe a bit basic but I didn't come here for the hotel I came to see Amsterdam, they have bike hire as well as a water taxi so didn't see much of the Botel anyway. Free parking was a bonus.
Breakfast is €10 so went out in stead
Booked through trivago got a great deal but even if you turned up off the street it's only €84 Happy days!
