“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

Was a brilliant hostel/hotel. Our room was spacious with a brilliant bathroom. Large telly with good channels.
It's location is right beside the Van Gogh museum and is about a 20 minute walk to dam square. Nice quiet area.
But there is a school out the front and if they are out playing you will know!! Very loud!

I stayed here in May with six of my friends and we are all students so we were looking for something on the cheap side. We booked one private room for six people with private bath, which for a hostel is quite luxurious and it cost us 120€ for 5 days and 4 nights. The rooms are simple and VERY clean, which was great. The hotel's location is next to all the best museums. However that's the only touristic area next to the hostel. So if you are looking for the drugs and the red light district kind of atmosphere you should go more towards the center. The hotel Van Gogh is also next to some of the best nightlife that have almost no tourists where all the young Dutch people go which is called: Leidseplein, and there is also rembrandtplein. But overall we haven't any real problem with the hotel, a part from the reception being rude at times, but for what you pay it's a great hotel.

I have stayed here twice now, both times in the dormitories traveling with women in their mid fourties and found its a perfect place for all ages. Its clean and well kept, the bathrooms are new, large and luxurious, its great if you have a kettle in the room and a big tely for a night when the weather is not so great. The breakfast is fantastic, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Good location close to museums, a little far out of town if you wish to party at night

Stayed late May for 4 nights in a 8 bed room. The room had a toilet and shower in it and was very luxurious for a hostel. Shower was powerful and very hot (great adjustable temperature). Staff friendly, check out time is 11am.

Good central location, tram stop is just outside but main Amsterdam is just a few minutes walk (depending where you want to go). Airport bus stop is also less two minutes (if that) from the hostel. Only problem was breakfast wasn't that good (in comparison to the quality of everything else) - a wide selection available but the picture made it seem as if it was a full English, it is not. Breakfast is 5 euro. Did see computers available in the reception area too.

Towel and linen provided, my room had air con. Overall a great hostel and would happily stay again.

Stayed here for 3 nights.
It is a nice hostel which is either renovated or new. It has a big lobby where you can sit all day long.
The location could be great- depending what you're looking for(if it is museums then you are set). 5 minutes walk to Vondelpark and around 8 minutes walk to Leidesplein.
The staff were nice and helpful and helped with what they could and knew.
I stayed in the 6 bed dorm which was alright. It had a great private shower and restroom but the way the beds were formed didn't allow a lot of much-needed space. This place is good for people who are looking for a budget hostel but it is not a great backpackers spot.

I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights in an 8-bed dorm. Overall a very good experience - clean rooms and bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Don't expect a lot by way of amenities, but the basics are all provided - towels, bed linen, toiletries. They do a buffet breakfast (at extra cost) which was very nice and good value. No other meals or cooking facilities are available (although there is a guest fridge to store fresh food).

Location was ok - right opposite the Van Gogh museum and the Museumsplein, but with few bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity - still, you can find plenty of choices within about a 20-minute walk. On the plus side, quiet at night. You can get to the Centraal Station by tram lines 2 or 5, or to the airport by bus 197.

Overall, if you just want a cheap place to sleep in a decent location, this would not be a bad choice.

Fantastic location, good room and beds (we stayed in a 6-dorm private). There is a school in the front and the kids are out early, but we didn't have a problem with it - the teens staying on the room by our side didn't stop partying till very late though.

The breakfast was good for what you pay! I had a good experience overall.
