“Two nights stay at NH Musica”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Very pleasant hotel and stay for a couple of nights in Amsterdam.
Although the hotel is not located in the centre of town, however it is definitely worth considering based on value for money. As this hotel was chosen due to a business trip, I would definitely consider staying here again.

After arriving at the hotel, we were informed that there was no double rooms left, so we would get a twin room. Obviously we weren't happy at this as we had booked and paid for a double room, which we had conformation of.

We instantly expressed that we weren't happy at this. We were then told that the beds had been pushed together and would be perfectly fine. There was no alternative rooms to offer us.

We inspected the room out and it wasn't fine. There was about 2" height difference in the beds and would be quite easily pushed apart. We were shocked that we were expected to accept this in a 4 star hotel. Other than the pubic hair around the toilet, the rest of the room looked fine, but this was a romantic getaway for two, not a cheap drunken boys holiday in the usual cheap holiday location where you accept poor treatment.

Back to reception to press for a room change, the receptionist made it seem wrong for us to complain about the bed and that she would be forced to disappoint another customer.

We had arrived earlier than the 3pm check in time and the car park was empty. It really shouldn't be our concern that they would have to disappoint another customer as it was the hotel that was in the wrong failing to honour our booking. Although that wasn't how we were made to feel. The receptionist was rude to say the least and it is very rare to see that in the hotel industry, especially when you have a valid complaint.

We were finally given an alternative room, with and double bed, we were forewarned that it was smaller. Got a feeling that the receptionist was upset with the fact we complained she made an effort to give us a poorer room.

The room was at the end of the corridor. It seemed to be a sub room rather than a full sized room. There was an additional door that lead to two rooms which was wedged open to expose two rooms in the corner.

It did have a double bed, but strangely it had single duvet covers on the double bed. It also had two rather flat pillows with only one spare one in the cupboard.

The room was small but ok. It was various signs of wear and a few marks, dents, chunks off various parts of the furniture and to the walls outside on the corridor too.

The hotel is also too far from the centre of Amsterdam. You have a 5min walk to get the bus, that would take another 5mins. You then had to get the tram into the centre and this would range from 30mins to nearly an hour at busy times. The hotel was said to be 6KM away, but it seemed a very excessive 6KM if you ask me.

The last tram back is just after midnight, so it would lead to paying for a taxi if you plan to have late nights.

It was just too much effort if you wanted to have a day out in Amsterdam and then come home to go out at night. A transport pass was 17.50euro for 3 days to cover all the bus and tram rides.

The hotel isn't that bad and most staff seemed nice.

Sadly the booking error, which reading other reviews, isn't a first off, and the stinking attitude of the receptionist means I'm going to score the hotel very lowly. You simply can't treat customers with such contempt.

Hope this is read by management and some action is taken to stop these booking errors and educate their employee how to behave in an acceptable manner.

Room Tip: It is hard to choose a good room as you might not get what you've booked.

We spent 3 nights here, hotel staff are very helpful, comfy big beds, nice rooms.
Located in a residential area but easy to get around by tram and a three day travel pass is only €16:50!
Had a fab time for a special birthday, ideal place to stay for a group of girls, in a safe area.

Hello,

my girlfriend and I booked the Hotel NH Musica in Amsteradm - 4 Star hotel for 4 nights.

We both travelled from Canada to Amsterdam, we had 4 big suitcases and two big backpacks with us. No one from the hotel helped us carrying the suitcases, the customer service front desk just looked at as as if we are from another planet.
The front desk people are the unfriendliest people ever, they are not saying hello or goodbye and if you have a question about their slow internet they get offended and upset with you.

The hotel was nice but the staff is terrible. I will never book a stay with NH Musica Hotels again.

Be aware, price seems ok for a 4 star hotel, but if you just 30 years old (as my girlfriend and i am) and you are not wearing a business suit all day long then you are totally fail on this place.
They dont like poeple which are dressed normally, just business suits.... this is really redicolouse!!

I have never given a Hotel a bad review before but I simply have to with this one, Ive just come back to my own bed thank god. The service was terrible, Its about half an hour on a crowded stuffy tram away from the center, which it costs like 12 euro's. the mini bar in the hotel is horrendously overpriced 3.50 for 75ml of orange juice and the prices are hidden in the top shelf away from sight, the "room service" consists of an extra hidden cost of 5 euros on top of whatever you order per item which is hillarious as you can only order a small amount of the menu at night time. the rooms look impressive however when you settle in you will realise that the "double beds" are actually single beds pushed together with NOTHING holding them together so you just fall through the middle all the time. the toilet made me howl with laughter. its located behind the bathroom door which means that you have to squeeze past the shower in order to use it, If i was a larger gentleman it would have been impossible. I will never come here again i would have had a better stay at a travellodge - not even an exaduration.

I stayed almost a week here and I was extremely pleased with everything. The breakfast was superb and the staff was super friendly. I had a room on one of the top floors and had a spectacular view! The room was big and clean and felt very luxurious (at least when you're a student!). They have massage chairs in the basement, which I used almost every day. After a long day of walking around in Amsterdam, it was wonderful to relax in one of those chairs! The beds are really comfortable, so we slept great every night.

The only thing I wish was different was the distance to the city centre. It's a good 20-minute tram ride to the centre. I enjoy train- and tram rides, but it would have been nice to be a little closer.

Thanks for a lovely stay :)

Amazing hotel. Absolutely beautiful, from the lobby to the rooms. Bathroom was fantastic had a great big bath and a shower. Very modern and fresh. Great prices. Would stay here again 100% lovely staff and the surroundings are cute. House keeping also do a good job and if you need anything they bring it right up. Tram 5 minute walk, takes about 20min to get into central Amsterdam. Great!!!!
