“Welcoming friendly and fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2010

I stayed for one whole year here whilst working under contract nearby and the owner and his staff could not have done more to assist and serve me well from the very start.

There was never once a time I felt overlooked or ignored. The building is smart and also kept very clean. Any problem was resolved quickly. When I needed sleep and there was noise outside they offered earplugs ! The jazz and popular music theme is great fun.

I would always stay here whenever possible.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, Guitar Hero and pool in the open area (not to mention the bar...) and nice to children. My two thought the room was super cool, my aspiring actress (11 years old) loved the lighted mirror. We walked to the Anne Frank House and several parks and restaurants. The transport is very close, and even though it was a holiday weekend, we had no trouble with noise or other guests. It was the kind of place I would liked to have stayed in my 20's, and it was also great for me at 45 with 2 kids (and don't worry, we only played pool and guitar hero in the late afternoon/early evening, so older guests don't have to hang out with children. Canal views, safe feeling. And did I say CLEAN? Our room was great! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This place was class. The staff were great, amazingly friendly and helped out in anyway possible. Great location, close to some beautiful sites and only 15mins walk to Dam Square. I would recommend this place to anyone who is up for partyin hard and taking in Amsterdams beautiful scenery!

MUCH LOVE,

Rosco x

Fantastic hotel with great customer service and a great location near Leidseplein. My wife and I stayed one night with three teenage boys (13-15 years old) and loved it. Got a quad on the third floor with built in Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. Room also had an IPOD docking station and flat screen plasma TV. Didn't plan on spending much time in the room during our Amsterdam stay but could hardly get the boys out! The room was also decorated in rock band style. The staff were super friendly. Only down side was the noise from the trams right outside but they stop at a decent hour and you can always get earplugs from the reception desk. Recommend this hotel highly!!!

Nice rock themed hotel. Nothing too much trouble for staff, even when we kept them up to 5am drinklng lol. Cook your own breakfast a novelty but was really good.. Would definately go back there. Just off the Liedisplein, nice pubs in the area, 5 mins from the madness of the red light district, but trams good.
Try the Crush coffee shop next door too, was one of the best value coffee shops we found

Just got back from a 4 night stay at the Backstage Hotel and it was awesome!!!!!
I will never stay anywhere else when in Amsterdam.
We had a 4 person suite that was the envy of all our friends staying at other hotels in the area. It was HUGE compared to other rooms I have stayed in whilst traveling in Amsterdam. Our room also had an xbox360 with guitar hero and dj hero hooked up to one of the two flat screens. The beds where very comfortable and the hotel was always clean.
The staff was incredible and such very friendly people. They really helped make our experience such a good one. I can't wait to get back .
Thank you Backstage Hotel for everything.

The staff here were really friendly and helpful. We managed to lock ourselves out of our room and they dealt with it straight away. On our second day the hot water in our room went off, it turned out to be a problem with the pressure in the street and without any fuss they opened up another room for us to use the shower. On the last day they also let us leave our luggage there after we had checked out and nothing went missing - always a bonus!
I stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend and another couple in a quadruple room on the 4th floor - there is no lift but after the first climb you don't notice it and there was a nice view of the canal when you got there. From what I could tell, all the rooms would have views onto the street and canal as the hotel is on the corner. The room was really funky and looks exactly like it does in the pictures on the website!
The staff pointed is in the direction of a mini supermarket and it was exactly as they said, a few minutes round the corner. There are bars a few hundred metres away open till 2-3am but there is no noise or disruption at the hotel as there weren't rowdy but more chilled with many friendly locals. The central station is about a 25-30 min walk but the trams go everywhere and you can get one 500m or so from the hotel. There is a square close by the tram stop with pubs and food places, when we were there an outdoor mini ice rink was also open.
Best = the cool, clean rooms with nice views in a good location for the price.
Worst = The hotel hadn't been around that long when we stayed there so it's full potential of bustling residents hadn't been reached - good excuse to go again!
