Very clean and tidy rooms, large rooms (with chocolate on your pillow every day:))
No lift
Our room was furnished with a fridge, kettle (free tea & coffee), a sofa and a table with chairs just in front of the window, VERY small balcony.
We were 2 couples, each his own double room with a hot tub (so cool after a long day walking on Dam...)
It's right, rooms on street side are quite Noisy beause of the tramway, but no worries, it stops at midnight!!
It is 20/25 minutes walk to Dam Square. It's better to buy a tramway ticket (you can actually buy those at Alp Hotel front desk)
Breakfast buffet was fine, well furnished.
I recommand Alp Hotel because it's Worth the value!

We have booked this hotel for January 2015 on the recommendation of my friend who lives in amsterdam and it is close to her home so will update after 20/1/15.
All staff were brilliant and rooms clean and fresh every day. Nice little touches in the rooms each day. Free tea/coffee all day plus fruit and we were also offered a free alcohol drink on arrival, including our friend who lives in amsterdam.

Room tip: If you are not fit make sure you ask for a room on a low floor. We were on fourth floor hard on the legs. No lift in hotel. All staff are excellent and great breakfast

I can only echo the positive sentiments of the previous reviewers when in comes to the staff, they are incredibly efficient, professional and friendly! We were given a free drink on arrival and were pleasantly surprised to receive a map and a explanation of where the landmarks of the city were located in relation to the hotel and which trams to use. The room itself was also great, except I found the pillows a bit large and hard, but that wasn't a big deal. We did have an issue with rowdy upstairs neighbours in the middle of the night, but the night receptionist was very helpful and asked them to be a bit quieter. The breakfast was fabulous, and the free all-day coffee much appreciated. Excellent value for money and well situated too. All in all, a great little spot:)

I want to start off by saying that this place wouldn't be half as great without the people they have working at the front desk. They are literally the nicest people in the entire universe. They got us hot cocoa and coffee when it was cold out, provided maps and showed us how to get around the city. They were so helpful and resourceful and NICE! I couldn't believe how great they were. They were able to give us recommendations of places to go and things to do and were truly amazing. The rooms were beautiful. We had this gorgeous room overlooking the street. It could get a little noisy, but not too much. The little deck had a small table and chairs to overlook the street. The Jacuzzi tub was also really nice in the cold weather. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and breakfast was included and great. The wi-fi did not work in our room, but it could have been our location. However, I did not receive more hospitable treatment all around Europe. If I ever return to Amsterdam I would definitely stay here again!

Room tip: The Rembrandt suite was beautiful.

Stayed here for 3 nights in December. The hotel staff were excellent could not fault them. The hotel was clean and very well presented.

There was a continental breakfast every morning which was superb and had a really good choice of items. There was also free fruit and coffee throughout the day which was also a nice touch.

I would not stay here again purely for the beds. We had two single beds pushed together into one and it was not ideal as we traveled as a couple. The pillows were far to hard for my liking and i had to sleep without one for the 3 days.

Other than that i cannot really fault this hotel and would definitely recommend it for older travelers.

Room tip: Take a room at the back if you are worried about nosie. Ask for a low floor if you not good with stairs.
