“Really friendly helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

Booked the hotel and prior to going asked for a room with a view as it was my friend's birthday. We certainly got a room with a great view. From he moment we arrived, staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The hotel is about 20 ins on a tram or bus to Centraal Square. Area perhaps looks a bit intimidating at night, but we had no problems. Used public transport without a problem. Overall a great hotel, with wonderful helpful and friendly staff. Would definately stay here again, mainly because the staff were so lovely and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the hotel have a view over the water.

we were not to sure about this hotel as we booked it online. WOW is al i can say........
beds.......... comfy and clean
breakfast........ full continental & delicious
staff.......... really freindly & helpful

this hotel is 20 mins on the tram from amsterdam centre, we bought a 72 hr pass for the tram ( 16 eruo) this was perfect for us, there were trams every 10 mins right to gone 12 at night. then there was a night bus running all night, you can catch a 14 or 7 tram or 21 bus ( which was just as quick as the tram) we caught a 69 bus from the airport and it took us straight to hotel, if your on a buget this is the hotel for you as there is a massive shopping centre next to the hotel. would defo go back to this hotel and i would recomend it to anyone........ 100% satisfied :o)

We enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Blue Square over a weekend break. The hotel doesn't look much from outside but the rooms though small are well furnished, clean and comfortable with canal views from some of them. Breakfast was good and the reception helpful. The free wi-fi service was also much appreciated and worked well.

Although a little way out of the centre, the Blue Square is well-served by public transport with the 69 bus going from Schiphol AIrport almost to the door and back. Also the 14 tram which takes you into the city centre.

Room Tip: Some rooms have pleasant canal views so get one of those if you can.

Stayed here with my fiance - excellent hotel doesn't look much from the outside but is very well kept and has beautiful rooms inside the hotel. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast. The only thing I would say is that it's a bit far from the city centre - we had to get a tram and a bus to get there but other than that everything was excellent!

Nice and well-maintained hotel.

Very helpful staff, and nice rooms - more than we expected.
A bit far from the center of Amsterdam, but then again, the tram-system is very good, and easy to use.

Good and plenty breakfast!

Will consider this hotel if going back to Amsterdam at some point.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the street, and at the time we visited they were mending the street outside, so...

Judging by the outside (blue building, a bit gloomy) we thought it wouldn't be anything amazing but in fact the room was very nice! The beds were comfortable, toilet was nice etc. everything was clean and the breakfast was good.
The hotel is far from the center but luckily the public transportation is good and it's quite easy to reach the Dam square by tram or bus, even though it takes about 30 mins. If there is one reason why I wouldn't stay there again it would be the location.

The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was clean and spacious. However the thermostat in our room did not work which we did not discover until late on the first night. The staff were good at quickly finding us another room however when we moved into the room we found that it had had a very strong smell of smoke. So back to the reception again and we were told that there were no other rooms that we could take at the back of the hotel which is where we wanted to stay as it has a view of the canal. So we went back to our original room and were given a small portable heater to keep us warm. Location wise it's about 20 minutes out of central amsterdam and there are 2 trams or a bus you can take which take you to different locations in Amsterdam. A word of warning, we missed our shuttle bus back to the airport on our last night and we had to get a taxi organised by the hotel which cost 40 euros - so not cheap.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, overlooking the canal
