“Best place for friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Good place for friends trip. We were four friends and everything was absolutely perfect. It was near the central station and 5 minutes walk from Dam square.

The Wifi connection was not very good. I suggest to make it more powerful because I always had disconnections.

The place's owner was great!

If you want to get high without any problems, and laugh out loud - this is the best room ever.

Really recommended!

Excellent location, nice, clean and well equipped apartment. Maya, the landlady, was nice and helpful, providing us with the map of the city and giving helpful suggestions what to see and where to eat. The place is 5 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal (train station) and is located on the border of Red Light District. There are dozens of restaurants and attractions within either a walking distance or a short trolley ride. Steps at about 70 degrees slope will be a challenge, especially if you carry your luggage, for us it was more like an adventure. One other note, it is a smoker friendly apartment, so if you don't, just keep your windows open. Will recommend the place...

Well i'll start with the apartment, it was in a good location, it was spacious, microwave cd player etc, the shower didnt work very well and the fridge had old food in it and could of done with a good clean out. Beds weren't great - 1 very small square pillow per bed and all 4 of us had bites all over us after sleeping in them. Now to Maya, the woman who met us at the apartment, she was rude and VERY condescending, told us to shut up when we got there as we were a little excited (we just arrived for a holiday did she want us to be miserable ?). She also failed to tell us about the free wi-fi, in fact the best thing she did was leave us alone until the day we left. On the day we left I rang her to tell her we were ready to go and of course she answered the phone and snapped down the phone to me i'm eating my breakfast i'll be 10 minutes and hung up. When she came down she looked over ever little thing she could trying to get some of our deposit money - she failed! she then complained that we had put on too much aftershave to which i replied isnt that a good thing to smell nice ? she replied no inhaling that will give you cancer and kill you !!!! Before we left i asked if we could leave our bags somewhere as we had a late flight and she said "no put them in the train station" as she was busy all day. Now i've been on many holidays and ive never been refused somewhere to put my suitcase when i've had a late flight, its just another example of that womans rudeness, all in all apartment not bad, good location, staff atrocious.

Few friends and myself wanted an apartment rather than a hostel so this was a perfect choice. It's right beside the train station so we were off the plane and in the apartment within 30mins, was great. The area is lovely, nice view and it's quiet compared to the rest of the city.

The apartment itself was very clean and tidy, smoke friendly too, which was nice. Beds were actually quite comfortable. there was a fridge, hobs and a microwave so it was easy enough to cook some meals.

The stairs is very very steep, I took a picture of them so people would believe me. We still managed though, even in an inebriated state...... ;-) The girl managing the place was also lovely, knew a lot about the city and was half American so communication was no problem. The place is also reasonably priced, we went in August so weren't expecting dirt cheap rates.

Don't be put off by the steep stairs! We nearly were but if we had been we would have missed out. As everyone else has said the apartments are in walking distance of just about everywhere, they are clean and well equipped and Maya is really helpful. If you're looking for luxury you'd be better off booking a hotel but if clean and simply furnished is ok and location is more important you can't do any better for your money.

Easy to find from the Train Station. The apartment we stayed at was on the second floor up a steep staircase. The staircase so steep, if I was wearing a dress, the person underneath me could see right up it. So...be warned.

There is no common room or lobby. Unlike hostels, you don't get to meet anyone.

The apartment was big enough for three people. The kitchen was big and had a lot of food leftover from the previous guest. Great WiFi reception. Shower was nice and hot, but the drain was a little slow. The TV didn't get great reception and most of the DVDs didn't work in the player. Although, the apartment is near the train station, it's not near all the action. It's about a 7 min walk to the Red Light District or Coffeeshop.

Smoke-friendly, but not shroom friendly (if that's your thing).

Maya was super cool. She gave us local insight to Amsterdam. Feel free to ask her anything! She even sells seeds and massages. She even has a drawer filled of cell phone chargers, so if you happen to forget yours, she can hook it up!

Room Tip: There is a great collection of bongs and pipes. Don't go to the liquor store downstairs. M...
