the second time we are staying in this hotel. the rooms we stayed were newly decorated and were very comfortable. the hotel is located in great location. breakfast had a lot of choises but we were disappointed because it didn't take place in the winter garden room but in a rather small room which looked more like a big coridor. in spite of it we enjoyed our stay very much.

We first stayed here in 2011 having booked a standard room and then being upgraded to an apartment when we arrived. That was the best thing they could have done as we now go for the apartments every time, even though they are more expensive they are well worth it. We now go to Amsterdam 3 times a year and stay at the Krasnapolsky each time. The hotel is in a great location and the apartments are spacious, clean and quirky and you are left alone which is nice !!! The service at the hotel,is always great . We stayed in a private apartment on,our last visit to try and save some money but it didn't come anywhere close to the Krasnapolsky. Needless to say , we will be going back to the Kras on our next trip.

We have stayed here a dozen times - mainly as after looking around for an alternative, it always delivers a good standard in a perfect central location at what we consider to be really good value for what you get. It just makes other options like the wonderful Sofitel look too much at twice the price to bother when you can pocket the difference and spend it in the city.

Positives:
Staff very friendly, polite and helpful.
Bar staff very attentive and create lovely cocktails.
Good breakfast.

Negatives:
Same issues as last time have not been addressed:
Towels are like sand paper.
Wifi is really poor.
Air con on full blast on the coldest setting for 3 days and useless.
No liquid milk in the room for tea - The English don't do black tea on the whole. Had to order some at 5 euro's (yes could have gone to a shop but didn't fancy that at 6am).
Room maid service a bit keen - had them knocking on the door at 9am wanting to clean. (perhaps should have used the 'do not disturb' but hadn't expected a 9am clean when on a 3 day stay).
Small rodents running around behind the chairs in the bar\lounge. (Quietly had a word with the barman and he knew about it and said it was due to the construction!)

Happy to put up with these things for the price.

Great location, right on Dam Square in the centre of Amsterdam.
Got a free upgrade to a deluxe room from standard.
Good buffet breakfast, plenty of choice and all fresh, no matter what time we went down to eat, available between 06.30 & 11.00.
Very efficient reception and concierge.
Have been here a few times and would not hesitate in returning.

We got upgraded to an apartment during our recent visit and it's a great little space, very well located at edge of red-light district in AMS, however service is more 3-star than a 5, and you got to be ready to let go a little.

The apartments are located just behind the Krasnapolsky Hotel (some of them can be also accessed through the hotel), facing the edge of the red light district. So the location is just perfect for a sightseeing walk. The apartments are very stylish, recently refurnished. We were staying in a smaller one - this had no bathtub only shower, but this was okay. Everything was perfectly clean.
The kitchenette was well-equipped (we cooked some light meals and we found everything we needed). Free Nespresso and dishwasher capsules were also provided.
The staff is very friendly - we lost the key of our apartment twice during our stay and they were helpful both times. The concierge of the hotel gave us good restaurant tips - thanks again! :)
