“nice and modern apartment in the center best location ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2011

We stayed in nh krasnapolsky apartments 10 night in a deluxe business apartment the apartment was clean, modern the living room was spacious with a nice view over the canal but the bed room was to small the roof terrace was really nice the location was the best I like the privet entrance the negative things was really steep stairs no elevator our apartment was in the 4th floor so we had to carry our four heavy luggage to the 4th floor the house keeping was once a week other than that we enjoyed our stay and we would like to stay in the apartment again but next time we would try to have an apartment in the first floor or second floor.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

We just completed a seven night stay at the Krasnapolsky Apartments. We had booked a Junior Apartment. We checked in at the hotel lobby and as others have said, it was a bit of a wait but not too bad. A manager came to show us to our apartment, which was located in the back of the hotel with the entrance in a passageway next to the hotel. Also in the passage way was a popular jenever bar, Wynand Fockink. We were given a key card to open the front door of the apartment building as well as our own door. The apartments was up one flight of somewhat steep stairs (but not as steep as we later encountered in other places!). A hotel handyman helped us get our bags up the stairs. The apartment was BEAUTIFUL! We were so happy with it. There was a good sized living room/dining room with a sofa, cushy chair, flat screen TV on a credenza, table and four chairs. The windows had heavy curtains and sheers underneath. The windows were massive and could be opened. The living room looked out upon a canal (!!!) on the edge of the RLD. The canal view was a happy surprise! I have never enjoyed such entertaining people watching in my life. In the space of 5 minutes, we saw a person in a full chicken suit, man in regular clothes with a large rat's head over his own head, a boatload of beer swilling Vikings and a bunch of intoxicated batchelor partygoers singing and wearing gold sequin hats. Back to the room: The kitchen was open to the living room with marble countertops, microwave, cooktop, sink, espresso machine, hot water maker, dishwasher and pots, pans, glasses, wineglasses, dishes, cups and cutlery. Detergent for the dishwasher was provided. Everything was super clean and in great condition. There was a long hall with a closet containing a washing machine, dryer, vacuum cleaner and mop. It also held a folding bed for our third person which we set up in corner of the living room. The bedroom at the end of the hall had two large singles pushed together, 2 night stands, desk with internet connection (very expensive, 20 euros per day or 70 for the week), tall dresser with shelves and two spaces to hang clothes and another flat screen TV (good channel selection, including 3 BBC channels). The bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was ensuite in the bedroom and had a big window (frosted for privacy), tub/shower, toilet and sink. Plenty of towels, good quality toiletries, hairdryer and super clean. The apartment looked nearly exactly like the one in the pictures here with the dark brown furniture and light brown curtains. The only negative I can possibly say about this apartment is that on weekend nights there is constant partying going on in the neighborhood and it is very loud. People also congregate outside the jenever bar in the alley outside the apartment to drink and it also got loud near our bedroom, but that bar thankfully closes fairly early and the noise stopped. But, people party on the canals until 3 or 4 in the morning (in the summer anyway - probably not in winter) and if you are a light sleeper you may find it difficult to sleep. During the weekdays, noise was not a problem. Outside the apartment were a number of bars, coffee shops and restaurants. An Albert Hein grocery store was about a 10 minute walk away behind the Royal Palace. I loved having the convenience of an apartment with the assistance of hotel staff a mere phone call away if we needed help. We had an initial problem with the electricity and staff came right away when we called. They were great. The Junior Apartment was just the right size for two adults or two adults and a kid. If you were a party of 3 adults, it might be awkward with the bathroom being in the bedroom. There is full maid service only once every seven days, but the maid came in once during the week to straighten the beds and bring fresh towels. The location of this apartment was central, service good and apartment fantastic. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Stayed here one night for business. Perfect location in a good atmosphere.
See to that you stay in the new wing where the rooms are "new".

PS. they have no ironing services after 6pm which I expect from a hotel this class, please fix that!

We were two couples staying in the Superior Deluxe 2-bedroom apartment at the Krasnapolsky for 5 nights. The apartment is on the floor above the ground floor, overlooking the canal, on the "back" side of the block the hotel occupies. It has two spacious bedrooms with king beds, two bathrooms, an office, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room with washer and dryer, and a large living/dining room area with couch, comfy chairs, dining table, tv with the same programming they have in the hotel, and beautiful large picture windows overlooking the canal and the local scene. The apartment has nice dark hardwood floors and is all around just lovely. It and 3 or so other apartments are in a building that has its own entrance. You check in at the hotel front desk and they give you a building key and an apartment key (which is just like the hotel room keys). In case you don't know, this is a very nice hotel, located as centrally as possible, right on Dam Square. The hotel even provides room service to the apartment if you're into paying those prices. Maid service in the apartment is weekly, not daily. We were also able to use the hotel's fitness center free of charge.
This was a great experience. As two couples traveling together we spent less than we would have for two hotel rooms and we got much larger, much better accomodations. Normally they have a 7-day minimum stay, but in this case (confirmed by phone after initially booking on their web site) they had a shorter window available that happened to fit with our travel plans. All 4 of us loved the experience and would gladly stay there again.
Wireless Internet access was available using the same system as in the hotel, which is wildly expensive (EUR22 for 24-hours).
On those few occasions we interacted with hotel staff, they were always very friendly and courteous, and generally speak very good English, like most professionals in Amsterdam.
Both when we checked in and when we checked out we got a hotel bellman to help with our bags. This was crucial as the internal stairway in the building is very narrow, steep, and twisty. Worth a few euros to not have to navigate them with luggage.

Found this Hotel/Apartment through an online reservation agency and the price was so much less than many other places. Besides we got a living room, loft, bedroom and a kitchen so we didn't have to eat out every meal to help with the travel budget.

I must say at first I was a little nervous, I had never booked with a hotel through an agency before I have always booked direct. I contacted the hotel directly after booking and they confirmed my reservations.

They had a baggage handler escort us to the apartments and carry our bags which was great considering our apartment was on the third floor and there were 2 sets of spiral stairs leading up to the floor. We stayed in apartment 7329 which is directly across the canal from the red light district.

The room was fabulous. We had French doors that opened up to a garden below, a sofa, chair, T.V. with VCR in the living room along with a dining table and kitchenette with dishwasher. There was a separate laundry room inside the apartment with iron and ironing board. The bedroom was pretty spacious and the bed would be the equivalent to king size bed with night stands, dresser, T.V. and wardrobe. The bathroom was good size with tub and shower (and had great water pressure and the water never turned cold). There was a spiral staircase that led up to a loft which had a desk and a twin bed. Both the loft and the vaulted ceiling area over the living room had skylights which opened and enabled cross ventilation of the apartment.

The hotel supplied us with a basket filled with dish soap, sponge, dishwasher detergent, coffee, tea and laundry soap. In the bathroom they also supplied shampoo, nice soaps, lotion, toothbrush, razor, shaving cream, brush, combs, loufa sponges . . . you name it they had it. They also brought up a gift wrapped package and inside was a tote with the hotel's insignia.

The location was perfect. Some may argue that having the red light district right across the canal is a bad thing but the police presence was huge, probably safer than a lot of other areas. We walked around comfortably at night with our son with absolutely no problems. Right around the corner from the apartment is a small store that sells snacks and drinks and they are open pretty late. The grocery stores all close around 7pm so if you forget something or if you are out seeing the sites you may come back a little too late. Also around the corner is a bakery that also sells soft ice cream and they are open both early and late, a pizza by the slice place, a huge cheese store that has the friendliest staff and more restaurants and pubs that you can count. Across from the Hotel portion and behind the palace is a grocery store and next to it a liquor store which closes at 6. Depending on how fast you walk Central Station is only 5 minutes away and there is a tram stop right out front of the square.

I definitely will go back to Holland again and I can't think of any other place I would rather stay. I highly recommend the apartments for individuals or families.

I stay in one the Krasnapolsky Junior apartments the majority of the time when I'm in Amsterdam. They are quite spacious. The bedroom is seperated from the living room. There is also a kitchen with refrigerator. Guests can use all the facilities of the hotel. Room service is available for delivery to the apartments. These apartments are a great deal in comparison to a hotel room. The living space is what does it for me. They are located at the edge of the Red Light District behind the main building of the Krasnapolsky at Dam Square.
