I stayed at the Botel for 5 nights at the beginning of August. The location is very good, being only a short walk from the Centraal station, the Damrak etc. I chose it for the location, and also because I had been there before with my children, as a "budget" holiday. I also remembered it having the best hotel breakfast I'd ever had.
Well, on a second visit it wasn't as good as I remembered, but then I'm older and more experienced now, so it's coloured by other hotels I've visited since. The room was still small, and the bathroom smaller, which didn't matter so much when I was younger, but is a bit of a problem when you get a bit less mobile. The bed was fine, but the view from the window was awful, being a building site, but I had been warned about this. One problem was the thinness of the walls, I could hear everything that was being said and done next door; not something that worried me with two children (we were probably the ones making the noise) but when I was on my own, it either woke me up or stopped me from getting to sleep. The breakfast was not as good as I remembered it, but my memory may be at fault. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
Would I go back again? Yes, if I had children and was on a strict budget; no, as I think I deserve something a bit more luxurious now!
