Amstel Botel, what can I say? Cheap no frills hotel in a central location a few minutes boat ride from Amsterdam Central Station. We have been there twice now and knew what we were getting into as far as the hotel goes. Cheap, no frills and located well. Dissapointing though was one member of staff, an Asian lady who was very ignorant with ourselves and 2 other sets of customers that were there waiting to get sorted. Think she was having a bad day or sometihing, we all do but still no excuse for the behaviour.

We have stayed at the Amstel Botel four times now and use it for an overnight stay on our way to Europe and then again on the way back to Britain. This is the first time we have stayed in its new moorings and I was a little disappointed as it, at first glance, did look to be moored in quite an industrial and "rough" looking area. However, we later found out that the "rough" looking area was Student Accomodation and we had no problems when we were there. There are a couple of bars close to the Botel, but no supermarket. We had to get onto the Ferry and go to Central Station to buy a few bits and pieces. The ferry crossing was a little tedious as we always seemed to have just missed a ferry so had to wait 20 or 30 minutes for the next one. However, the weather was beautiful so not a problem waiting in the sunshine, but I would think it would be a different story in mid Winter! The staff at the hotel were very good and the rooms are a little small but have the basics. Our shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. We paid £78 per night for central Amsterdam! Breakfast was extra which we did not take. Where could you get a room for that money minutes from the city centre. We love Amsterdam and would stay at the Botel again. Have no illusions about this floating hotel being romantic. It may sound as if it is, but it definately is not! The big plus point if you arrive by car is that there is plenty of FREE parking outside the hotel which is incedible for Amsterdam.

stayed at the botel in amsterdam. great value accomodation, great staff, breakfast was good, rooms clean and not a bad size for a cabin. we would definatley go again. read the reviews on here b4 i went and was a little worried about what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. have to catch a ferry across to the centre but they run constantly and are free and only take 10 mins to get across. overall had a cracking weekend and no complaints. would denfinatley go again.

Went here for extended weekend with friends and boyfriend, fab time, fab hotel. Had to get boat to and from hotel but apartt from that, a quick walk through or around station and were quickly in town centre. fab red light district, incredible bars, and we went to some fab night clubs open to 6 in the morn! Cheap holiday and comfortable beds and big enough rooms, can get food in hotel but not the best! so we ate out alot, however seeing as we stayed bed and breakfast we ate the breakfast and it was nice. Can get drinks up to 1 am but one night the bar staff gav us all one beer each about 3am wen we arrived in from a night out staff are nice, so willing to help. Would defo recommend!

although several years ago now and maybe thngs have improved, I feel compelled to share my experience of the Botel.
I stayed in one of the lower deck rooms (the bottom of the window is about level with the water !). Unfortunately the septic tank must have been a slightly higher level than my bathroom, because every so often turds would appear in my toilet.
Wasn't too impressed by the mould in the shower either.
