Hi, My girlfriend and I have just arrived back from a long weekend in Amsterdam. We had an excellent time which was compounded by two things, firstly the Amstel Botel and secondly the weather!
We chose the Botel because I had stayed there 7 years ago when I visited A'dam with a friend. I couldn't remember much about it other than there was nothing bad about the place which is the sort of thing you don't forget too quickly. After a disgusting stay at The ACCA Hotel in February 2004 (don't go there whatever you do) we wanted to stay somewhere clean, friendly and close to the action. I decided the Botel was the place for us and what a great decision I made. The place was welcoming, friendly, clean and tidy. We received excellent service from all the staff, the breakfast was good, the room was very clean and bedding and towels were changed daily if you hung the cleaning card on your door, if you don't do that you probably won't get clean sheets etc which possibly explains a few of the bad reviews about the Botel. There was no major noise to report and the bathroom though small was exceptionally clean. The bed was comfy enough for three nights and the view over the canal was fantastic to say the least. We were on the top floor which made everything just perfect as when the sun shines over the canal the view is lovely. The rooms are small but what do people really expect, if you want the Mariott then pay for it. I knew from the moment we walked in and my girlfriend gave it the seal of approval saying "I really like it, its great" that everything was gonna be fine. That coming from anyone is not a really bold statement I suppose but as she is a Reservations Supervisor for a very large and expensive 4 star UK Hotel Group I think it says a helluva lot for the Botel. All in all we couldn't really fault the place, I would, without exception, recommend it to anyone. We were very, very happy and completely enjoyed our stay.
