purpose of our trip was 2 nights of partying and this hotel was def the best choice. right next to the train station (4.60 Euro's - train from airport) and the red light district. Watch out for the trams, bikes and other traffic. They don't care for pedestrians at all!!!! check in was slow and they had problems with us paying with debit cards.
room was basic but clean and obviously small. we didn't have a canal facing room and were on the bottom floor and it was fine. take some bread for the local ducks, swans and seagulls that pass by your window.
The staff were very friendly and when we came in from a night out about 3.30am the night porter was so sweet he went out his way and made us some cheese sandwiches. chiense restaurant next door 'Sea Palace' is lovely. the decor is beautiful and the food just as nice.
the Botel has a bar thats quite a nice meeting place if you're travelling with a group of people but you wouldn't spend an evening in there.
overall - good choice for a no frills short stay but wouldn't recommend for a long holiday or a special romantic break.

At the end of the day this is a boat that has been converted into sleeping quarters, And all the staff have no problems in doing all they can to make your stay as comfortable as they possibly can.
We had a twin room and the single beds are rather small but all you do is sleep in them and for a short while, because outside there is a whole new place to discover where as far as we found nobody judges anyone else in what they say or do.
And to see so many smiles in one day or night is really pleasurable and makes a great change from seeing some of the Miserable faces that appear in the uk on a daily basis.
The showers no you could not swing a cat in them but if you was in there with a cat then you need locking up.
As said by other trippers the TV in the rooms have a 24 hr porn channel but as always there is the good old on and off button or even other channels to watch so the choice is yours.
Breakfast not brilliant but edible, the hotel is very clean and a
3 to 4 minute walk from the Central Station.
Great place (for couple of days away from rat race)
will be going back after christmas.

Not a bad place, but not great either. Amstel Botel had a decent location. The complimentary breakfast was slightly above average. The beds were fairly comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, exceeding my expectations to some degree. However, the price (considering how worn out our room was, and how tiny the bathroom was), make it difficult to perceive the value at this property. Also of note, the nearby construction can make sleeping past 8am difficult. There are better places to stay in Amsterdam, for less money. While I don't regret having stayed at the Botel, I would have difficulty recommending it to a friend.

  • Liked — The hotel staff i encountered (front desk, hotel manager) were very friendly and helpful
  • Disliked — The room was dingy, drab, run-down, tiny, and right next to a construction site.

OK place to stay. Rooms small but generally clean. Avoid lower deck, I stayed there once and the smell from the toilet was pretty dire -staff did not want to acknowledge this so it took much argueing to get them to move me to another cabin.
All extras you pay for or pay a deposit. For example you will need to leave a deposit (refundable) for the key to the room safe.
Breakfast OK but pricey unless you wnt to eat a lot. Then it is worth it.
Allow ten-fifteen minutes to walk to Central Station and the Trams -more if you are carrying luggage.
Bar very basic, but OK for a quick drink before going out of an evening or for a nightcap.
Having said this I have often stayed there
