“Nice hotel close to The Efteling”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

Hotel De Kroon was a very nice hotel with clean and comfortable rooms and within a five minute walk to The Efteling! Breakfast was good and general service as well. The hotel is also situated in a calm street.

My new husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. I am a roller coaster enthusiast and really wanted to visit de Efteling, but the prices at the official Efteling hotel were a bit too steep for me. I decided to try this hotel as an alternative and I'm glad I did. It was extremely close to the park -- about five minutes' walk. Since a variety of bus lines serve the park, it's also easy to get the bus to further destinations. (We got the bus to and from 's Hertogenbosch to reach the train station.)

Our room was small but we expected that and it was adequate. We had the one room with a balcony, which overlooks the front of the hotel and provides a pleasant street view. The furnishings are very old-fashioned but we considered that part of the charm. We were mostly there to go to the park, not hang around the room, and it was fine for our purposes.

The innkeepers speak English well and readily switched back and forth to speak to us and the other, Dutch-speaking guests. (It amazes me how the Dutch can do that so well!) They were also happy to hold our bags for us on our day of departure so we could get another half day in at de Efteling. They provided a map of town, advice about restaurants, and sold us tickets to the park so we did not have to wait in the ticket line when we got there.

The breakfast was merely adequate. The best part was the bread, apparently fresh from the nearby bakery. The rest was unremarkable and the selection was pretty limited. The breakfast was included, however, so I didn't expect a whole lot.

I would recommend this hotel to others visiting de Efteling.

Room Tip: The balcony room that we had gave a nice view and a place to go outside and check the weather in the...

Resume editing stayed for 1 night at the end of june 2012. this lill' hotel was just what we needed as a couple.

we arrived late, past check-in time, and still had a worm friendly welcome by the friendly woman who attended the front

the rooms are not that big,i can see how a family of 4 plus could be finding it hard to stay in them, but everybody here are usually off to efteling every morning for the day and you basically need the room for shower and

the location is great for visiting efteling, which is a short walk from the hotel.

breakfast was decent - eggs, cheese, breads, cereals, juices and so on. no bacon or hot scrambled eggs and alike, but still enough for starting the day. as in most places in holland - vegetarians would find almost no vegetables at breakfast unfortunately.

beds were a bit soft-but that's always a personal taste issue. shower suffered from low pressure, but was clean and tidy.

would definitely stay again.

The hotel itself is not a cream of the crop, it is rather old and ordinary.

But people who run it love what they do and that is why they did everything they can to make it cozy, stylish and convenient. Good job!

The atmosphere here is extremely lovely and friendly. We loved the design of the hotel and we have noticed different little things owners placed (like beautiful lamps, pictures, vases, sconces etc) to make it more attractive and notable.

Breakfast is fine, you can have boiled eggs, ham, yogurt, muesli, cereals, fruit, cheese, pâté, fresh bread, toast, coffee, cocoa, tea and some more. It is served from 8.30 till 10.00

In the evening we had couple of glasses of wine in the bar, good selection of red, rose and white wines.
Only 5-7 minutes walk to Efteling park - great :-) Park is very beautiful and interesting.

As I mentioned we loved the staff, personally we want to thank Inneke for her hospitality! Very professional and kind woman, every time it was a real pleasure to talk to her.

Hope we'll come back again some day :)

Second 2 night stay in 2 years. Absolutely lovely hotel. A nice friendly warm and peaceful retreat after a day at the nearby Efteling. We look forward to returning again soon. The 2 ladies we always see there running it are superb hosts.

We arrived at the hotel 19:00 to discover that they didn't have a room for us because they had overbooked.
The alternative hotel they gave us was a dreary business hotel 15 minutes away. T
Altogether - can't say anything bad about the hotel, but I would never risk booking with them again.
