“Good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We stayed here for two nights. We arrived pretty late in the night so we had to go to the irish bar to check in as it is owned by the same owner as Hotel Sutor. The room is really clean and quite spacious for European hotel. The bathroom is also spacious and equipped with bathtub. They also provide adequate toiletries. The housekeeping only clean the room in the morning, so if you leave your room in the afternoon, you won't get your room cleaned. The room is a little bit too cold in the night during winter but it was fine.

Be reminded that just like other budget hotel in Europe, this hotel doesn't have any elevator, so prepare yourself if you bring heavy suitcases. To wrap everything up, I'd say it is a great place to stay considering the price.

We only stayed here for one night, but for the price we paid it was ideal.
The staff/owners were very welcoming and clued up on the area and the event we were in town for.
The rooms were on the small side, and the stairs up to them were really steep, but they were the only issues (not really issues). The rooms were clean and comfortable with all the mod cons. The location was also good, set on a side street near the park and near the main eating/drinking area. A good value stay.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2010

Stayed at the Hotel Sutor since the hotel I usually stay in was fully booked. The hotel is rather small (do not know the exact number of rooms) and it does not appear to be very well-known either. It is located within a few minutes walk from the central station and just around the corner of the 'Grothe Markt'. The hotel is owned by the guy who owns the Irish pub (O'mearas) across the street.

I thought the hotel was great considering it only costs €75 per night. The rooms are modern and everything is clean. Beware that the stairs up to the rooms are rather narrow and steep. Not a problem for me but could be an issue for some people.

The rooms had all the standard amenities such as flat screen TV (with a large number of channels), wifi Internet. There was a desk that was big enough to work at and there was also sufficient storage space for clothes. The bathroom also had a bath tub.

The beds appeared to be new. Nothing wrong with the beds but perhaps a bit to hard for my liking. The room faced the street so it could at times perhaps by noisy but it was nothing that bothered me.

There are however a few simple changes that would improve the stay significantly. The first one thing is that it would be great to have a possibility to plug in the laptop at the desk without moving the wardrobe next to the desk. Just putting a small extension cord there would solve that issue.

The other thing that is a little bit disturbing is the fact that it was necessary to inform them the day before at what time I wish to have breakfast. There is no one there for breakfast before the time specified so if one wakes up early the restaurant and reception is closed and there is no chance of getting breakfast. They do make the breakfast for you but for me it would be worth more to be able to just pop down when I feel like it. The same thing goes for the reception which is unmanned at most times. Not really a problem since there is phone number in the room that one can call or it is possible to go down to the pub and ask them. It would however be an improvement if it was at least manned in the morning (say between 06.00-09.00).
