“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2010

We stayed at the Mabi for one night. It has an odd "Hollywood" theme, but the hotel itself is quite nice and the staff were very helpful. They provided us good directions to different areas of the city and great directions out of town the next morning.
The rooms were comfortable although we had some dope smokers from the nearby coffee shop under our window for awhile but that was not a big deal.
Breakfast was included and consisted of a large buffet containing both Euopean and American style breakfast items.
Overall, a nice hotel in a good location.

I will not stay there anymore. Staff is really very unpleasant and nerovous. No cosmetics at the bedroom, poor breakfast. The lady took a of free of charge bottle of wine from our table 2 minutes after 7 (free wine from 5 to 7 p.m.). Wrong invoices etc. The only good thing is the location.

Very comfortable bed and large room - I was in the bedroom above the front door. This was mostly fine as it's on a side street, but did have a couple of disadvantages. Motorists seemed to think it was fun to race over the cobbles late at night. Not too many, but with the windows open was a little noisy. Also the voices of people outside the front door for a smoke tended to carry. Probably best to ask for a bedroom at the back.

The breakfast was good - wish I could have faced the smoked salmon, but just couldn't do it first thing in the morning. Plenty of choice, though, including hot items.

The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful - though I don't think the girl who checked me in had quite such good English as others as she didn't mention the vlaii & coffee or wine & tapas. I'd completely forgotten reading about them here as I'd been travelling around various places ... but I didn't miss out on the bowls of sweets and fruit dotted around the place :) There is a lift to all floors.

The position is pretty near the centre - just off Markt (one of the 3 squares); close to the river. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Nice to walk over the river and through some of the old streets on the way.

Although it sounds as though I'm nitpicking, I generally enjoyed my stay there. To me, the most important things about a hotel are cleanliness, comfortable bed & decent breakfast and the Mabi definitely ticked all those boxes.

We stayed in this hotel for only 1 night. The hotel location is good and close to the center and the shopping areas. The entrance of the Hotel is nice and it resembles that it was a cinema prior to becoming a Hotel.

Now to our room, the size was quite OK, it was clean the bathroom and shower were also good. The only negative point about the room was our bed which was not comfy at all specially on the side I was sleeping.

The breakfast was also good enough and of course they offer free pie and tapas in the afternoon which we missed.

Fantastic location, right next to the market square but we had no problems with noise from the street. The rooms are a good size. Ours had a fantastic king sized bed.
The bathrroms are a little small - no bath but a reasonable sized shower.
The staff were very firendly. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice.
There are jars of sweets dotted around the hotel and we were encouraged to help ourself to them. A nice touch is the complementary coffee and pie served between 3 and 5 pm each day, and the wine and tapas served between 5.30 and 7. You don't need to go out to eat

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst at a conference on the other side of town. The hotel is in a great location, near the old town shops, market and squares with lots of outside eating opportunities. The hotel has a lovely breakfast with plenty of choice; plus there are fruit and sweet bowls to help yourself at any time and an afternoon tea with yummy cake and tea/coffee (free) and after that free wine and nibbles! Frankly you dont need to eat out. The hotel staff were also really helpful and pleasant. The rooms were clean, large and functional - no way the best room ever but did the job - the pillows took a night to get use to but by the second night I was knackered and slept well thereafter.

So all in all I'd really recommend for business or a weekend break in a town that was really friendly with great shopping.

the beds in Hotel Mabi were the best beds I've ever slept in!! The service also is very good. Only the bathrooms are small and not very luxurious. The location is excellent - just around the corner of the Grote Markt.
