“Perfect Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Arrived in Maastricht with a terribly sprained ankle, having fallen down the steps in the train while wearing a heavy backpack, and Nicole was incredibly helpful - settling me into a larger room than I'd booked (so I'd be able to stretch out and get around on the crutches I ended up needing) bringing up ice, and generally looking out for me. Made a crappy day a whole lot nicer. She also recommended some lovely local restaurants all within limping distance.

And the place itself; lovely. The rooms are beautifully appointed, private, and very, very comfortable. There is a coffee machine for that morning heart-starter, extremely comfy beds, and flexible check in and out. Nicole emailled me ahead of my arrival to ensure that she'd be there to greet me, and lives on site, so is always available to offer advice (or ice-packs!)

And the location is perfect - a relatively quiet street, close to the train station, and an easy stroll from the centre of the city. You really won't find a nicer place to stay in Maastricht.

Sorry for the late review Nicole!! My husband and I stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Maastricht to see André Rieu and I cannot compliment Nicole on her fabulous, wonderful home enough! Just a stone's throw from the train station and the Vrijthof Square, there is so much to do in this beautiful town. This 'hotel' (b&b) is absolutely pristine! Nicole made us feel so welcome and was so hospitable and kind whilst we were there. She sat with us and gave us so much advice as to where to visit; even going as far as booking us a table in a restaurant! Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be returning to see André Rieu next year and would not contemplate staying anywhere else other than here! Maastricht itself is a truly stunning location, and we completely fell in love with it! A must for ANYONE!!!!! Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality Nicole, you made an incredible trip just perfect. xxx

As a woman traveling to Europe alone in order to attend a convention at MECC, it was wonderful to be welcomed here by Nicole. She and her family live in the charming restored townhouse, and there are 3 rooms for hotel guests. Upon my arrival Nicole oriented me to the city with maps and restaurant suggestions, and walking directions to MECC (a pleasant 2 km distance). Although the house is located on a busy street, the room (So What) faced the back courtyard and was completely quiet. The room itself is decorated attractively in a modern style. The bed is quite comfortable. The bathroom is very nice with a rain-shower as well as a handheld shower. It should be noted that the bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a partition, not a door, which could present a problem if more than one person is sharing the room. There is a large table and 2 chairs in the room as well as a deluxe tea/coffee maker and a CD player (Nicole will supply you with her beloved Miles Davis CDs). Free wireless internet access. There is a china cabinet in the hall with dishes, silverware, and glassware for your use.
Breakfast is around the corner at Bread and Delicious, a wonderful bakery with friendly service. It is possible to order a full breakfast including an egg, granola/yogurt, and of course a breakfast roll or pastry. They have a nice selection of loose teas.
After checkout I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel until my evening departure.
Overall a great value with a personal touch.

A very small hotel with just a few rooms, really more of a B&B. The thing that stands out most is the personal touch that the owner/proprietor, Nicole, provides. She sent emails before our arrival confirming our reservations and offering directions on how to find the hotel. When we arrived she sat us down at her dining table and gave us an orientation to Maastricht and its attractions, including a list of the better restaurants.

The other thing it has going for it is its location. From the train station you simply walk two blocks straight away and one block to the left and there you are. Nicole advised us there was a bike rental shop at the station and with the bikes we were able to see all of Maastricht proper in a very short time.

Our room, the "Charmant" was reasonably large, airy and had a nice view of a garden area and trees. There was a fresh bouquet of roses and a bowl of fruit waiting for us. In the morning Nicole delivered a huge breakfast to our door. Our room had an automatic espresso and tea machine as well as a micro-fridge. This was quietest hotel we stayed at during this trip which made for a good night's sleep.
