“Almost perfect.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Just back from a 3 night stay here. All our emails were answered promptly before we made our visit by Kim the manageress.. There is an onsite reception open 9 to 5 including Saturday opening. We arrived on a Sunday. We had arranged for someone to let us in at 4 p.m but unfortunately that person never arrived as promised to us on two occasions. Luckily we were given a phone number before we left home and after several attempts at phoning this local number we eventually got through to the person who should have been there to let us in. They arrived within 5 minutes and showed us around the apartment explaining everything. I wonder what would have happened if we did not bring the phone number or our phones with us.

Our apartment was located in the centre of the complex. Lovely and quiet. There were six enormous windows letting in lots of light but most were sealed shut. They reminded me of the windows that were in my school back in the 1960's. You enter the apartment block and room with the same electronic card. No bolt on the door to lock yourself in at night. The ceilings were about 14' high and temperatures in our room were kept at 20 degrees during the day and 18 degrees at night with good air circulation. However it did feel chilly in the evenings but we were unable to heat up the room in any way.

The apartment was spotless. Everything was new and appeared unused. Nespresso machine with some pods available plus some teabags and sugar. No microwave but there was an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, hoover, ironing board, etc.

The bathroom had soap, shampoo and good quality towels, Big shower, the floor a little slippy. Great taps and plenty of hot water. There is a room service every couple of days to top up towels, toilet rolls etc.

Big comfortable bed but the most uncomfortable pillow that I have ever slept on. It was a big chunky thing. I felt I was sleeping sitting up. In the end I slept without it.

Huge TV with over 20 channels including BBC1 and BBC 2. Great wardrobe space.

The location of these apartments is superb. Right on a quiet corner of the Vrijthof. There is a large supermarket just around the corner where you can purchase fresh milk and other breakfast bits and pieces but with all the restaurants less than 100 yds away offering all sorts of specials you don't need to be cooking yourself.

I really liked these apartments and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 11 is in the middle of the complex. No view but very quiet. It is on the first floor.

Dear BOXtheFOX,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor!

We are sorry that something went wrong with the communication. We always ask our guests to phone approximately 30 minutes before arrival. Guests might be delayed and then our appointed check-in assistant is waiting at the office for nothing. But we might not have been clear about this. Luckily, after you phoned our assistant he was there within minutes.

We are aware of the temperature settings. We have already ordered different thermostats and we expect to have them changed shortly. This would make it easier for you to set the temperature yourself instead of having to get somebody at the reception.

We will blame the pillows for being new.... :)

We hope to see you again at Urban Residences Maastricht!

Just stayed here with my husband for 2 nights. Used booking.com and got a very good deal ( was definitely cheaper to go Sunday and Monday than the Friday and Saturday we were going to stay). Accommodation is lacking in maastricht and I found that staying in a quality apartment like this , dead central to everything is far preferable to staying in a dated hotel room and paying 20 euros PP for breakfast. The positives- central, immaculate, 2 story so feels like home, all appliances /bathroom were top of the range Miele, Loewe, Laufen. Included were washer and dryer, iron and board, nespresso coffee maker, dishwasher, bed with splt mattress and electric controls and free wifi. The young man who checked us in was very freindly . Tip- would not consider this apartment if my children were small, the large window next to the kitchen which overlooked the street opens fully at waist level and a child could easily fall if unsupervised as the latch was very easy to open. Also the fridge is empty so bring breakfast items or find the supermarket - as explained in the apartment booklet). if I was staying in maastricht again I would stay here again without doubt.

Room Tip: We stayed in 05 which overlooked the street , which was perfect

Hi Cindy,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor!

We agree totally with you... Hotels are SO 2012...! :)

We will certainly keep your ideas in mind. Please note that we usually do not place couples with children in the apartment you were in. We are aware of the "danger". But thank you for noticing!

We hope to welcome you again one day at Urban Residences Maastricht!

Urban residence is right next to Vrijhof, one of the largest squares in Maastricht. We had a 2 story loft with a wonderful living space. Everything is within walking distance and the manager is wonderful. The only downside was that, without air conditioning, the loud revelers coming home at 4 AM followed by a daily leaf blower that sounded like a chainsaw who felt he had to start at 6:30 AM made for fitful sleeping.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your review!

I guess you found the downsides of staying in the center of town...! :)

Should you come and visit us again, ask for an apartment on the courtside of the building.

We hope to welcome you again one day at Urban Residences Maastricht!
