“Great caves, so much history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

A cave tour should be included when visiting Maastricht. These man made caves are worth a visit, so much history about Maastricht, beautiful paintings to take in ... great experience.

“Nice to see, but not spectacular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Did a tour in the caves in April. We had a very nice guide (all young locals) guiding us through the labyrint and telling a lot about the history of the place. The history is very interesting, but there is not much left to see. A lot of the tunnels were destroyed, as was the 'infrastructure' that used to be there. So all you see is indeed tunnels.

“Historical and Cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Certainly worth visiting especially with all the sketches on wall and history. The caves were supposed to be inhabited by 50,000 people to hide during war! However, that never happened.

“an interesting place to visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

The caves which are not really a cave but a mine of chalk stone where an incredible system of corridors with a total length of 60 km can be visited. There is not much to see and the corridors are really tall and wide. The information told by a guide is average. Be prepared that it is cold underground and take a jacket or sweater with you

A voyage in time, a very surprising experience, i was a bit skeptical at first but turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
