“Excellent B&B,spacious rooms and great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

My review has long been overdue. But I dare not neglect leaving my comments here on Tripadvisor as Chocolat B&B was one of the most memorable places we stayed in when we had our 5 week long trip of Europe last April-May 2013. It's a pity that we only stayed for one night. My family of five occupied two rooms (at that time the only rooms they had). It's like an apartment that had been remodeled to turn into a B&B.We had large suitcases so we really needed a lot of space. They have a tiny lift to help bring up all our luggage. Me and my husband stayed in a very spacious, clean and very tastefully decorated suite. It had a seating area and a fireplace which really looked cozy. Special touches of chocolates (a lot) and free beverages and snacks, in the pantry area just outside the corridor between the two rooms. Our rooms are near each other on the same floor so it's like having the whole floor to ourselves. My children's room was bigger and similarly tidy and pretty. There was an ipod dock so we had some music playing all night. Bathroom was nice, strong shower and lots of bathroom amenities. When we arrived, it was manned by only one person, a very friendly and helpful young lad that unfortunately his name I could not remember. Breakfast was served in the dining room. It was just the five of us so we felt very comfortable because of the privacy. A very pleasant lady whom again, I couldn't remember the name was serving us throughout breakfast time. The selection was very good and plentiful. Cold meats, cakes, lots of fruits and cheeses, jams, croissants and eggs were served. The location was excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the center where restaurants and shops were plentiful. During our trip, we were able to stay in different types of lodging, from really nice hotels, to old abbeys, castles and a provencal home. Chocolat B&B will always be a place we will remember and will return to when in Maastricht.

We stayed here for 1 night and really wish we could have stayed longer!

The rooms are very spacious, modern, clean and luxurious. Fireplace in the room was amazing. The bed super comfy. Free chips and drinks, which was nice to have after the drive there.

The location is also great, its a 5 minute walk to the centre of town, and its opposite a pretty park. We thought this was better than being right in the middle as when there is a festival going on, it could be loud.
Also, the owners are lovely and very helpful. They went out of their way with a few things for us which was nice.

The only thing that we thought could be changed was the fact that breakfast is not included in the price of the room. As it is a Bed and Breakfast and a bit on the pricey side, this should be included as is done with B&B`S in general. Although, it was still a nice breakfast that we could have in the comfort of our room.

If we go back to the city, would definately stay there again and can recommend it aswell.

This B&B was opened only 2 years ago and is in excellent condition. We stayed for 2 nights in a very large room with a fire place and lounge chairs. Located right opposite a park. Everything in the city is walking distance (3-10 minutes walking). Even if you need to cross the river (to the Rechtstraat for example - nice for shopping) it will take you max 10 minutes walking.
The only drawback would be that the beautiful garden (which was under construction) with a swimming pool is not for guests and that there is no A/C.
I think the B&B was excellent value for its price (also considering it has free parking).

Room Tip: room has no bath tub - just be aware if this is something you require no A/C - uncomfortable during...

My wife and I stayed recently at Chocolat and were very pleased indeed with the accommodation, ambiance and location. Monique and Evert Dudok are outstanding hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The B & B is excellently placed for visiting the City of Maastricht and we will definitely return. Having seen the original photos during our stay, I can only congratulate the Dudoks on an amazing restoration of this beautiful building. Monique has great taste and a tremendous eye for style. Here in the middle of Mastricht, she has created a modern, extremely comfortable interior in a classic setting. An exceptional job, well done and simply a joy to stay at.

We stayed in this B & B for 4 nights, and I really can say that we had a wonderful time. The B & B opened in March, the owners are fantastic, the house no words for it and the 2 rooms........like a dream! Very very clean, free drinks on the floor, fantastic breakfast, free parking in the garden. Maybe the only thing is that it is quite expensive if you're there in the weekend. Walking distance to the center.
