“great stay & friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2010

Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Apple Park Hotel for 6 nights (business & pleasure) and it was fantastic, I cannot think of anything negative about this hotel. We stayed in Maastricht and other Golden Tulip hotels several times before but this was trully our best experience. We got this recommended by one of my colleagues and we will back!!

It started with the check in, the young lady at the front desk was very friendly, helpful and efficient, she made it possible for us to check in early(11am). The design of the lobby is trendy and they keep everything clean and neat just like the rooms, the housekeeping ladies were very friendly and kept our room spotless. The only (small) thing is that they forgot to put face towels in the room the second night, when we called the reception they were brought over right away. The rooms are spacious and trendy but still comfortable.

We had breakfast every day and dinner on the first night in Dreams restaurant (the rack of lamb was really good) The staff was again friendly and attentive. The other nights we had dinner in town, within a few minutes with a cab we were in the city center where all the restaurants and shops are.

We will be back next year!!

It looks nice, but nothing works out right.
Nice curtains but they don't take the light out!
No bedlamps, but blinding 'design lighting'
No way you can read a book or watch TV from your bed (due to design nightstands)
Nice desk, but poor light and no power for laptop.

Incompetent front desk, unfriendly service
Unattractive location on the outskirts of town
Meager breakfast
Expensive parking
Bad price-quality ration! No way this is a 4* hotel

This hotel was promoted as a four-star facility, and its ground floor raises to that standard in some respects. But the rooms were really disappointing. The design of them reminded me more of a hostel, but that may be just taste. The standard of the rooms, equipment, shades, etc was way below what a four star facility usually offers.

Staff were very friendly and service oriented however, which applied to all people we were in touch with.

Location is good.
The service is bad, the people at the reception are rude and act like they don't care. We did not feel welcome there.
My family ordered flowers for my mother's birthday, the reception never delivered the flowers. They did not even apologize.

The room was not very clean, there was dust everywhere. The bedspread had a big stain. The mirror in the bathroom was not clean, there were spots everywhere.

They say that the room has airconditioning, do not expect a real airco. It was hot in the room and the outside temperature was 29 degrees celsius.

Upon arrival we heard another couple complain about their unclean room.
Stay away from this hotel!

We selected this hotel because of the air conditioning, which worked well while it was 29 Celsius outside.

The design is funky but functional. The location is on the edge of the city, near the football (soccer) stadium. There are two parkings, one paid and monitored, the other free and unmonitored. We opted for the paid parking (15 Euro per night, a bit cheaper if you stay longer), recommended if you have anything but a very simple car.

Had breakfast included in the package. Good breakfast buffet.

Free wireless in the lobby and restaurant. In future also free in the room.

Nowadays the Apple Park Hotel in Maastricht is an Golden Tulip, before it became that, it was just the Apple Park Hotel.

It is situated near the A2 highway, but is not so close to the city centre of Maastricht. You can take the bus, or your car to the centre as a walk would take to much time.

There is ample parking space around the hotel and in the area surrounding the hotel are a McDonalds and a gas station. The hotel has it's own restaurant, which looks like an American diner. It used to be an Applebee's by the way.

The entrance is large and futuristic looking with friendly check inn staff. Check in was quick and easy.

The rooms are meant to be futuristic looking, but that was back in the 90's. Nowadays it looks rather silly and somehow outdated, while it really isn't. The rooms are spaceious en clean, with good beds, a small seating area and a large bathroom with bath and shower.

The breakfastbuffet is in the diner-look-a-like restaurant and offers a lot, so you can really eat something here before you go out and visit beautiful Maastricht.

Stayed one night here as a base to sightsee in the Maastricht area. Finding the hotel on arrival into Maastricht by car could not be easier, it's immediately at the end of the highway, next to the football stadium.

We didn't walk into the centre but were told by reception it would take 30 minutes. We used the hotel's free minibus shuttle (left every 30 mins and needed to reserve at reception) but this only drops you off in the centre and does not bring you back. We took the local bus from the railway station back to the hotel, the nearest stop being about a 5 minute walk from the hotel entrance.

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was a reasonable range of breads, cheese, eggs, cereals etc, standard stuff. It was included in the room rate but I don't think it would be worth the €18 separate charge if breakfast is not included in your rate. There is a McDonalds just outside the hotel but we didn't see any other breakfast options nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool room was cool too.

A note about the very expensive parking - there is a huge free car park right next to the hotel (for the stadium), so unless you are overly worried about car crime, I would recommend to park there. Otherwise, it's €13.50 to park in the secure area (secure meaning there's a barrier entrance and video cameras present).

  • Liked — Bed, pool room
  • Disliked — Expensive (but avoidable) parking fee
