“Reasonable Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

This is the second time I stayed there, the hotel is a bit run down, the TV was old and the programs did not work. The beds are okay, the bathrooms clean. For the price you get a bit less than you desire. Service from the staff was basically non-existent.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We stayed for 2 nights over Easter. We picked the hotel due to its location and because it was one of the few places offering 3-person rooms. However, when we arrived the third bed was simply a temporary bed put in the middle of the floor - quite unstable, no headboard... it wasn't great.

The hotel has a very convenient location if you are arriving into Maastricht by train (or bus from Aachen): walk out of the front of the station and you will see it right in front of you. It is about a ten minute walk into the middle of town, across the river.

Hotel staff were friendly and polite on check in/check out, and rooms were a good size. The hotel does look a little dated now and could use a renovation, but everything worked at least. Rooms were nice and quiet - ours faced a nice internal courtyard. Bathroom was fine though the water temperature in the shower was one of those where it changes from too hot to too cold without you moving the gauge. We did not take breakfast, which seemed expensive at about €15 per person: you are literally opposite the station so you can grab something there for €2-3 instead.

Overall I was happy with this hotel - If the price is reasonable I would stay here again if I return to Maastricht.

We would rather have stayed in a youth hostel.

Summing up:
1. The room was outdated
2. The bed was broken
3. The bathroom full of fungus
4. The room wasn't cleaned properly
5. At breakfast the tables weren't cleared out
6. No service at all during breakfast
7. Breakfast itself was reasonable at best
8. Staff were just standing around and not particularly friendly

We have never written a negative review before and are not ones to complain easily. However as this hotel has 4 stars (and a 4 star price), we felt compelled to. So please save yourself from a stay in this horrible hotel and pick any other to enjoy your visit to the lovely town of maastricht.

I stayed here because there were major changes to the train works and I missed the last train to Luxembourg. The location is excellent, right across the road from Maastricht train station and a short walk into town. The staff were very friendly and even gave me a free upgrade! The room was fairly modern with an older television set but everything was well spaced and neat. I would definitely stay here in the future!

The location, right in front of Maastricht station, is a plus. City center is a 10 to 15 minute walk. Since Maastricht is lovely, you won't feel this walk at all. The front desk offered an upgrade for 10 Euros and I accepted. I was told this upgrade entitled us to a renovated room not facing the rail tracks. Well, it was a silent room. On the other hand, if the room they gave me was considered renovated I keep imagining how are the older ones. My verdict: this hotel is certainly not a 4-star property and there are better (and newer) places in Maastricht. Townhouse, for exemple, is in the opposite side of the same block, still near the train station. But don't ignore this hotel, it is decent and can be an option.

Shocking 4 star. I've stayed in better youth hostels. No hot water upon arrival, reception could not move me to another room as they claimed their systems were down. Finally got hot water the following afternoon after reception suggested I shower and shave in the Swimming pool!
Room smelt and was in need of decorating also very noisy. Breakfast, on second day they ran out of the mixed fruit salad at 8:30am but to be fair, there was a wide choice of other items to choose from.
Lunch, cheese rolls! Everyday!

Overall, whilst the location is good, I would suggest staying someone else as you will get better value for money, better service.. Better experience.

Decent hotel for a visit to the beautiful city of Maastricht. City center is only a ten minute walk away. Maastricht university takes five by train. The rooms are okay but avoid the ones at the front as they are right opposite the train station and a major bus stop.
