The Beaumont is a boutique hotel set in the middle of the Wyck, a funky neighborhood of shops and restaurants located in the center of Maastricht. It is a short walk from the old city across the river via a stone bridge at the end of the street, and offers a bit more eclectic neighborhood with better restaurants and nightlife. Parking is located under an adjacent apartment building a half block walk from the hotel; get a key at the desk before you try to enter. The hotel is two blocks from the central station, an easy walk.

Check-in was handled well, and the desk staff was quick with a map and recommendations for dinner. There are elevators to the upstairs rooms, which are split between the main building and an annex across the street. I stayed in both, and liked the annex apartments better. They had more room, more modern furnishings, and a light-up shower head that turns blue when the water is cold and red as it gets hot...very cool. Double beds are composed of two singles either way, and the rooms have a dozen cable channels on TV (mostly local Dutch), in-room safe, in-room coffee, and moderate pressure and hot water in the bathrooms.

Breakfast is outstanding, a generous buffet and fresh coffee left as a pot at the table. There are few alternatives as the neighborhood shops don't open until 9:30 or 10, so include the meal in the rate if possible. The hotel serves an upscale dinner but there are many alternatives in easy walking distance worth considering.

The staff is courteous and helpful, and we had a pleasant stay: it's a good base for walking through the center of Maastricht or as a business hotel for the University or local businesses

I stayed five times in the Beaumont in August 2008. The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpfull. But the hotel rooms (I stayed in many) were not up to expectations. The rooms at the first floor (EU) are very noisy. Some get noise from the restaurant, the streetcafe (terras) or kitchen. Those rooms are the few that have a/c. The rooms on the top floor are very hot during warm weather. The lights in all the room is dimmed so at night there is not enough light to read or work.

The breakfast is not what you'll expect from the price: Staled bread, espresso coffee only if you insist.

I booked the hotel using www.hotel.de, which gave me a very good rate for this hotel.

About the Beaumont: The hotel is situated 2 minutes walking from the central train station in the middle of Maastricht in "de Wycke". "De Wycke" is de place to be during the famous Maastricht Carnaval, however in my case it was november so no carnival.

Anyway the room although not large was OK. Beds and Bathroom were very clean. Rooms have standard a fridge (for drinks), TV, closet, small safe, Bath, shower, Toilet, hairblower, soaps, towels, bathrope and slippers.

The fridge contains 2 bottles of water which are free of charge. There is no minibar.

The hotel does not have a sport facility.

Breakfast was in my case not included in the price. Th hotel has an excellent medium priced restaurant with an extensive wine card.

Arriving by car? the hotel has a car park.

Impressions of the Beaumont: good service, modern hotel with good accomodation, great restaurant/wine bar and above all it is located in a great location.

For this moment my hotel of choice in Maastricht.

When I arrived I was told that I would be staying in the Residence block and had a feeling of doom, thinking what the hell am I satying in. This is going to be the budget side of a posh hotel, but to my delight my hotel room was absolutely beautiful. The furniture was stunning, the bathroom was massive and spotless, and I had a roof terrace where (if the weather had been nice I could have sat outside). All in all an excellent hotel, very good value in a central location.

Very impressed.
