I booked to stay here as I was visiting Maastricht for a birthday party, and wanted somewhere to leave my hire car and this place has a large free car park. They advertise a free shuttle in to town, but beware it's just that, into town only! You have to make your own way back and that's a minimum 10 Euros in a taxi.

Upon arrival the hotel can look pretty grim, it's right next to the main highway and is pretty drab looknig (although the weather didn't help, I'm sure it looks better in the sunshine) However the reeption area is large and airy and much more pleasant than the external view. Check-in was very quick and efficient, and my questions were all answered.

I had a room on the 1st floor, which was nice and spacious. Typical Novotel room, big bed and a sofa next to it, and a good sized flat screen tv along with free w-fi throughout the hotel. Bathroom was also a good size, mine had a bathtub rather than just a shower cubicle.

The hotel runs a free half hourly shuttle into town (only a 5 minute drive, but probably a 2km walk) but strangely they won't bring you back?!? So factor this into your costs if booking this hotel. They give you a card for a local taxi firm that gives Novotel customers a special rate but the 1.5 euro saving was hardly worth it by the time I'd used my roaming charges to call the taxi.

The hotel does have bicycles for hire (10 euros per day, from memory) but seeing as it was raining all day I didn't bother.

Breakfast was quite good, although the hot selection was a little underwhelming. (I did arrive quite late at about 10,45, so maybe I'd missed the good stuff)

Overall no problems staying here again, although the half free shuttle seems a little on the mean side and would probably lead to me finding somewhere more central.
