“Basic comfort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Mr and Mrs Ruiters family receiving us were very friendly, punctual and helpful with replying to emails, accommodating and directions.

House was a large home where the family lived. The Bedroom we were given was upstairs, in the back of the house, which provided privacy from rest of house. Family with teenagers lived in rest of house, and there was a lot of traffic of people going in and out of the house, up and down stairs, however when we closed bedroom door, it was not noticeable, unless you had to use the toilet or bathroom down the hall. This toilet and bath were not shared with anyone else and was separated from rest of house with curtain, so we had privacy.

Bedroom was large, decorated kinda hippy-ish, with old creaky wooden furniture, and east indian decorated faded bedcover as wall hanging. The room was well aired and no musty smell which could be expected from old homes. Hardwood floors. Room did not seem sparkling clean, could be because of the oldness of decorations and furniture used. There was an electric water boiler in the room for coffee and tea, instant coffee and tea was provided, and a refrigerator, however it was not working. Mrs. Ruiters gladly provided us with extra plates and utensils when we told her we'd have a "take home" dinner. There were windows with nice view of backyard, with trees, birds singing and couple of chickens. One window had an insect screen which could be placed in window if fully opened. We enjoyed the outdoor air, and able to have window open without insects. The mattress was soft, and when using the bed, tended to sag to heaviest person in bed.

The bathroom was clean, large and modern, and luxurious, with shower, bath, 2 person sink, and cabinet well stocked with towels, hairdryer, bathmats, well lighted, great mirror, windows to vent.

We did not opt for the breakfast, it was separately billed, since we don't eat serious breakfasts. So I was happy that we did not get charged for that. I think it may have been too lively of a breakfast for us. We are kinda quiet, especially in the mornings.

We stayed at this B&B in lovely Maastricht. This B&B is close to the centre, you can walk (10 min) and is in a nice house. They have a room with own bathroom and an appartment with own kitchen & bathroom.
The owners (The Ruiters family) is a warm, welcoming family who will help you with every question you may have. They also know a lot of restaurants, bars and site seeing stuff in Maastricht. The breakfeast (with home baked bread and eggs from their chickens) is served in their kitchen. If you like a lively (there are 3 children and a cat), warm and homey B&B than this is the place for you!
