“GOOD NIGHT SLEEP”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Stayed here one night on business, room was clean with UK TV and tea making kit. Car parking will cost 8 euros for 24hr. The hotel is central for bars, cafes, and a range of restaurants, there is also free WIFI in rooms. The rooms remind me of travel lodge set up, but you get want you pay for. I travel a lot on business and I would stay here again, it is clean and you get a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Take a bottle of water for the kettle in your room

I had to stay for one night in Heerlen for business. I chose to stay in the Tulip Inn as it had received fair reviews and seemed good value for money.

The hotel is well located in the city center and service was fair. The lady at the reception made no effort to smile or offer help when telling me that my room was in the 3rd floor and the elevator was not working. Luckily my suitcase was light and I am in good shape.

I chose a single room as I was travelling alone and had the suprise of a life time when opening the door. The room had a 60cm single bed, a tiny desk in the corner and a small TV hanging from the wall. The bathroom was the same mini dimensions. Luckily I arrived late and left early, to have had to spend any more time in the room would have been impossible.

It was inexpensive; but literaly a bed to strech on, a single one! And the bed was not comfortable at all, too soft and could feel the springs on my back.

Acoustics were not good, I could here people coming and going, and the TV from a neighbourging room.

In other parts of the world single and double rooms are identical, you just pay about 20% less if only one person stays in the room.

I guess there is a first for everything.

My wife, brother and I were heading to Heerlen/ Landsgraf on account of The Presidents of the United States of America playing at Pinkpop Classic. We needed a decent, cheap, place to stay and chose Tulip Inn based on some of the recent reviews.

We were not disappointed. Right in the middle of Heerlen. Parking practically next door, although not free then with hotel discount. Our very own Irish pub on the ground floor, with plenty of fun-loving people - and karaoke.

Based on advice found here we had asked for and received a room at the back of the hotel. It even had a (shared) terrace for my brother to enjoy some fresh air without having to descend to the ground floor.

There was a public music festival in the city centre, but we could barely hear it with open doors.

The extra bed was a fold out spring bed - but decent enough. Our toilet was small and very load - you had to be really quiet unless you wanted everyone to know what you were doing. The same can be said of the room - we could hear the next door neighbour, though it was not a problem.

It was nothing fancy, but functional. The downstairs lobby was rather posh, with a piano and fake fireplace.

Breakfast was not included but there was an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Irish pub at very reasonable prices.

Highly recommended for a cheap, convenient place to stay, just remember to ask for a room at the back.

Small rooms, basic but nice, clean, fantastic location - just minutes to the train station. Restaurants, markets, shopping literally out the front door. TV reception in our room was bad so they gave us a different room across the hall - right away and with a smile. If you need quiet to sleep, ask for a room away from the street, which can be a little noisy at night from the Irish Pub next door and the restaurant downstairs. Only a 25-min. trainride away from Aachen, Germany, a picturesque little towm worth the visit. The price of these rooms is very cheap - nothing even came close - so we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. There was no fridge.

+ Good location
+ Cheap: found a deal for 127 euro for 3 nights (excl. breakfast)
+ Comfertable bed and pillows

- You have to check in the Amrath Grand hotel, about 5 minutes walk from this hotel.
- Hotel could use some updating: carpet in hallway is getting loose, no paint on the windows, bad lightning in the hallway.
- We couldn't adjust the heating in the room, it was extremly hot and the only way to change that was by opening a window.
- The vending machines were empty, our whole stay.
