We just stayed here -- spending one night on a "special price" invitation. Consequently, we were not expecting to get the best room in the hotel but we did find it curious that we had to walk through the hotel-owned candy store to reach the steep stairs to climb to our room. The room was average and the bed was good but we were awakened at least four or five times -- starting at midnight and ending at about 5 a.m., by drunks coming out of a bar located across the street from our room. So if you want to stay here, be sure to ask for a room that is not above the candy store so that you will not be facing the bar and the drunks. The breakfast is expensive and not worth the price. The bread is made in the hotel-owned bakery, but we had the distinct impression that the breakfast patrons were treated to yesterday's bread and pastries. When we sat down, we helped ourselves to brewed coffee. This was good but then when another guest ordered a cappuchino, we decided to do the same---only to be given a nasty look by the server that indicated she was greatly put out by the request (we got the cappuchinos and they were worth the look). The service was certainly average at best. This hotel is the classic case of "resting on one's laurels"---it must have been great at one time but this era has long since passed. Too bad.
