“Decent if you're travelling alone and don't mind stairs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

I stayed the the B&B De Prince during this year's 4 day walk. The room was extremely small but thankfully I wasn't spending much time in the room, It was away from the coffee shop but not that far to walk. The room was small but clean and modern, but it was a heck of a lot of steep stairs to climb up and down The breakfast was OK it was a small and the coffee was decent. The staff was friendly but maybe all hung over. Not the worse place but wouldn't want to have to share the space as part of a couple.

I was at the B&B De Prince during this year's Vierdaagse Mars van Nijmegen. The room I got was in an old but very good renovated and maintained building. The room itself was small but very clean, modern and cozy. The breakfast was a small but very good buffet. For this price I paid (around 60,00 EUR per night + a small local tourist tax) I would stay here again!

WARNING concerning parking in the city area of Nijmegen!
The only problem is the parking in this area. The B&B has no own parking lot so you have to park in the streets around the B&B. Watch carefully the parking signpostings where you can park and where not because this is mostly not clearly posted (!!!) and the City of Nijmegen is only waiting for international tourists / visitors to put them a parking ticket with a huge fine on the front shield of their cars! Yes that's true! They do that only on cars with a non-Dutch-license plate!
If in doubt take pictures of the parking signpostings where you park as proof that you are not parking false! The City of Nijmegen prefers to give parking tickets also if parking signposting is not clear and therefore in doubt for the visitor! If you should get a parking ticket go directly to an lawyer and let him "fight" against this ticket!

The meaning of a room with a private bathroom in this B&B can mean having the use of the laundry room with a shower and WC on the opposite side of the corridor of the room. Unconventional arrangement to say the least, and not at all private. This would be acceptable if the room would be described more honestly. The hotel staff (not responsible for the marketting of rooms) is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are good. Good location too.

This B&B has several locations in the same street. My advice is to only book one night - T&C require 3 full days notice if you want to cancel. So if you enjoy your first night...stay on! But if you get single room no. 5 in the building above the bagel cafe, you'll find your WC and shower on the other side of the corridor where you share your ablutions with dirty laundry and the B&B's washing machine and drier. Not good value for 50+ euros - my advice? Drive on!

Room Tip: Be certain you want to stay here: 3 days notice required if you want to cancel...and if you stay in...

We booked two adjacent rooms for three nights while attending a family wedding. On arrival we found access to the De Prince very difficult by car, even the Tom Tom was confused. We were allocated rooms 21 and 22 at number 55 opposite the Bagels & Beans which was convenient but then found that the access to the rooms which were in the converted attic on the third floor was via a staircase that was so steep that it could better be described as a ladder (photograph attached) making carrying luggage up to the rooms very difficult. Decor in the rooms was good but hanging space was restricted to one ten inch rail which was quite inadequate for a double room. When pointing out that our room had not been made up on the second day we were told that rooms were only made up after three days.
General:- Location in town good(once you get there) Breakfast good but at 89.50 euros per night not great value

Room Tip: Don't accept nos 21 and 22

This is a very central location, in a surprisingly quiet main street with several very pleasant restaurants and cake shops. The price is reasonable - the hotel is basic though very clean and the breakfast nextdoor at Bagels & Beans is great. Excellent location. Friendly staff at the cafe.

De Prince is a pleasant place to stay in Hollands oldest city and on its oldest street. Located in a pedestrian area, easy to walk to restaurants and bars, and parking just 100 m away.

The hotel is very clean, recently renovated and functional. Good free wifi. The breakfast at Bagels & Beans in the morning is perfect for starting the day. The stay was hassle free as we were received by friendly helpful staff.

The only drawback is the extremely steep staircase. Don't go here if you have heavy suitcases.

Happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for an attick room under the roof, with views of the gabled houses next door.
