“Peaceful, comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

My wife and I travelled to Arnhem by train direct from Schiphol and once there used the advice from other reviewers to catch either the 91S or 231S bus to the hotel (less than 10 mins to bus stop 'Golflinks' as indicated on the screen in the bus; current price 2 euros pp).

The hotel, despite its proximity to the motorway network, was very peaceful with an adjoining wood where we walked on our final morning to be rewarded with the sight of several Greater Spotted Woodpeckers and three deer. The hotel was spacious, extremely clean, airy and very well maintained, with the thoughtful addition of artworks (including several sculptures) to soften the interior. We went out on the three nights we were there so cannot comment on the dinner menu but breakfast was very good indeed, eaten in the large restaurant with rabbits nibbling the flowers on the other side of the glass!

We used the hotel's very reasonably priced hire bikes (7 euros per bike per day at the time of writing) to travel to the Kroller-Mueller Museum, the Openlucht Museum and the Airborne Cemetery. If the weather's reasonable - which it was during our stay - this is a great way to see Holland using their fantastic network of cycle paths (NB we are definitely very occasional cyclists, but managed the short trips without any problems at all).

The hotel exceeded our expectations; it was easy to access Arnhem - even by public transport (will we ever understand this in the UK?) - and, given its location, instead of turning left to go into the city, turn right and you are immediately in accessible countryside.

I was worried we'd be too close to the motorway but this was a very quiet and peaceful stay. Large rooms (decor a bit dated, but clean and well appointed). We got a complimentary wee bottle of sect and a voucher for 10% off dinner.
Breakfast was fabulous, large well organised buffet, with hot and cold options and great bread and rolls etc. Best on the holiday.Dinner on night 2 was absolutely great.
Brochures for local attractions led us to Openlucht Museum and this great visit rounded off a really enjoyable stay.
Easy wifii and BBC news on tv.
Nice big spacious hotel and helpful and informative staff. Would go back.

Room Tip: We were on ground floor, would ask for this again. Convenient and no noise from reception as hotel i...

This hotel was excellent. It served all our needs well, right from a swift and friendly check in process, through to having everything we needed provided in the room plus more. The room was large and spacious (we received a double bed and a single as well, despite only needing a double!) and had tea/ cofee making facilities, a bath, great view out into the garden area outside, mini bar fridge, extra pillows in the cupboard. Welcome bottle of wine on arrival also which was a nice touch and we hired the bicycles offered by the hoel for 7 euro per day which is quite reasonable. The breakfast was excellent and was buffet style and included everything we could possibly need plus more! The location must be mindful that it is not situated in the centre of town etc, but google beforehand, and it really suits anyone wanting to visit the nearby National Park or anyone who has a car to travel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

Stayed here with a group-many of whom were elderly.Did not appreciate being allocated rooms that could not be accessed by elevators.Had to go down a flight of stairs ,along a corridor up another flight and then another walk along a corridor to reach our room All this with suitcases upon arrival and departure.
Food at the evening buffet was dire.Overcooked vegetables, meat and fish. No salads offered.
Staff slow to replenish dishes.
Some of our group had to eat around a large boardroom table .It was so big that cross table conversations were impossible.
There were no hairdryers or tea making facilities.
The only thing going for the hotel was its location

Stayed here with a group in April this year. The hotel is situated on the motorway (A12) on the northern edge of Arnhem - Great for access if you are exploring it is very easy to access the centre of Arnhem from here either by car or bus- for 2 euros each way it will take you from the main road just a couple of minutes from the reception, into Arnhem centre. The bus comes every half an hour. There are 2x bus services the 91, and 231 but check timings as they dont seem to run late.
Check in for our group was very quick and efficient, the staff all speak very good English. The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of there way to be helpful, The rooms are all very clean and well presented.I note some comments on being dated but I think they were of adequate standard and suited for their purpose. The only drawback was there were no coffee / tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast was excellent, a buffet style with continental style cheeses, hams, meats etc, fruit, fruit salads, juices, cereals, and bread to die for. So many different breads, buns fruit loaf excellent The cooked choices were great with boiled eggs(hard and soft!!), scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, sausage, beans, mini pancakes. Our group had a buffet style evening meal which was soup and another starter(cold buffet) then choice of hot main courses with vegetables and a sweet. A little strage was that a hot drink was not included? The food was well cooked and tasty as well as plentiful. Served as usual with speed and a smile. The bar is efficiciently run with great service Dutch hotel prices which though expensive are not London/ Paris prices. 2.70Euro for a small beer.....Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is well placed, well staffed and well run, and easy to drive to from all areas of Holland.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet as it is set back from the roads nearby.

We stayed for a long weekend as part of a coach trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well presented. Breakfast was excellent, even when they had to provide it on the day we were leaving at 6 a.m.! Only had one evening meal which was good but a little overpriced, probably what you would expect. Bar staff friendly.
Only downside is that the English do expect tea and coffee facilities in their room and as we were warned this is not provided

The Good== I would say the staff were excellent, went out of there way to be helpful, the Postillion hotel group should be proud of there staff. The breakfast was of a good standard with plenty of selection. The Breakfast and bar areas pleasant in style and kept clean.
The Bad==That has to be the position of the hotel for guest not having there own transport. There are two busses from arnhem bus stop, just down on the left after leaving the railway station, they are the 91 two an hour until after midnight and 231 last bus 19:17 so through the
day 4 an hour, when you arrive at the bus stop you have a walk of approxamate 0.5 of a mile climbing up hill to the hotel with car park on your right , then tree's on either side as you climb up the hill. I wouldn't like to do that in the dark, there is lights on either side of the road. If arriving after dark get a taxi.
The Ugly it might have been only on the basement floor where we stayed, but the rooms were very tired and need up-grading, they were kept clean, but it was the brown stains on the carpet , that was off putting, the shower tray was like a skating rink when wet (no Mat) I know it was only a buget room but!!

Room Tip: Dont have a room in the 200 floor
