“Good pub food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Didn't stay here, but called in on a Friday for food, was quite busy but just one table left which we had, we ordered two home cooked pies, one a vegetarian one, both were lovely and we enjoyed the food, came with the nicest homemade chips I've had for a long time, and fresh vegtables which was nice, carrots, brocilli and cabbage, made a nice change from peas that are often served. I Would recommend.

A lovely place to stay, very friendly staff, Accommodation was excellent, and very clean. The pub food was very good, and a large choice of food on the menu. Location was also perfect, and the views were breathtaking. Would stay there again, and would recommend to friends as well.

Me and my girlfriend recently stayed here after trip up to Bolton for a spa. Breathtaking views and a really eye opening scenic drive down. Superb room brilliant pub serving real ales and some proper countryside hearty grub. Breakfast is also very good and the gaffer lorraine is more than willing to dish out extra toast! Perfect location for a trip to alton towers takes just under 40 minutes. Looking for a quiet weekend with some really good food washed down with some ale then this is a must visit. Will definetly be returning in the summer.

Stayed here for a couple of days whilst having a walking break. Absolutely perfect location to explore the Peaks. Lovely room, newly renovated and very comfy bed! Ate in the pub on the evening and food was delicious and very reasonable. Great breakfast too. Lorraine and family put their all into this pub and accommodation so highly recommend it if you're going to the Peaks.

Very good food and drink (a pint of Unicorn goes down well with the chili-con carne!) We ate on a Friday night; the pub was very busy and sensed it was a popular place for locals as well as those not familiar with the area.
Staff friendly and welcoming, hope to return here next time on holiday in the area!

visited the Cheshire cheese pub whilst on a weekend away with friends. The Cheshire cheese is a lovely village pub that has great character. We visited on a Friday night to have a meal. Their was a great variety of food on the menu ranging from Lasagne to the catch of the day which was Seabass. I opted for the homemade burger which was really tasty and moist. It came with chips, salad and a tomato sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my burger, the chips especially were nice. The portion sizes were big which I liked! Others in the party had lasagne, fish and chips and pie - everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would visit again if I was ever in the area.
