“Welcoming, friendly & good food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

We arrived hot, thirsty & hungry via the High Peak Trail to a bustling pub & restaurant and received a prompt, friendly welcome. We asked for a snacky type menu and were shown the sandwich & starter section on the main menu. We ordered the sea food platter for two and were asked if we wanted to eat inside or out. We chose outside as the weather was beautiful and were surprised to receive our food within 10 or 15 minutes despite them being so busy. The food was good. Cyclists, hikers, campers and people there for a full lunch were all accommodated easily. We must go back for evening dinner soon!

“Best ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

My husband and I came across this place on the way to Buxton having been to the Rock Inn which was closed at lunchtimes. From the moment we got there we were treated like royalty, as we're the
other people dining. They had the most extensive menu we had ever seen with mouthwatering
selections and very reasonable prices. I ordered lasagne and my husband had steak and ribs
combo and the meals were delicious, quickly served and hot. My husbands pint of Guinness even
had a shamrock on the top. We were asked twice if we needed anything else, by such lovely staff
but there was nothing else they could have done to make it more enjoyable. We will definitely be
returning.

“Still Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

My first visit this year, but the Royal Oak has maintained its standards and is well worth the Pub of the year awards it has won for the last few years. Really good food, top quality real ale at a reasonable price. Wholeheartedly recommended.
