booked a 2 night mid week deal with one meal for 105 euros in january. have stayed here 2/3 times in the past, about 4 years ago. what an absolute turnaround from a one time favourite hotel of ours to a now poor, poor hotel - we were stunned by the decline. Room was run down and shabby (211 - a superior, allegedly). same for bathroom - dirty tiles, weak and ineffective shower over bath. restaurant meal on our first night was a disgrace, bland, overcooked veg, a steak that was 40% gristle( i kid you not), a cheesecake that was made in a factory from a rubber compound of some sort - honestly! 3 other dining groups were seen by us complaining about their food - one diner actually took his main course out of the restaurant to the reception! when we went into the bar area later, one fire had been allowed to go out and I personally had to restack the other fire myself twice or it would also have gone out - and this, on one of the coldest nights in january. the young polish? barmaid just didn't have a clue! when we went to bed around 12, my wife ran the bath and out came brown water full of what looked like bits of peat - totally disgusting! After a truly awful breakfast, dried up, barely warm ingredients cooked long ago, we had had enough and checked out immediately. As mentioned in the previous review, I can also confirm that the pool complex is both grubby and dirty and requires a major refit. To give Kees some credit the female manager did listen and note all our concerns and deducted our bill substantially - we were also given a free nights' B&B sometime in the future, but I doubt we'll ever use it. The head chef in this hotel should be replaced asap - the food was the biggest letdown of all - we used to LOVE the food in Kees. the down turn is truly staggering - what a shame! Head to the Millpark in Donegal and see how a great hotel should look, operate and feed its'clients till theirs hearts' content!
