Description: The Ufford Crown is owned and run by Max Durrant and Polly, with Polly's brother who is the Chef, Will Hardiman. We pride ourselves on our food and wines.Max has managed numerous pubs in London and the Home Counties before taking over The Crown with his vision of creating a 'go to' location with superb service, superb food and superb drink. His brother-in-law Will Hardiman runs the kitchen as Head Chef to create a real 'family team'.You'll always be given a warm welcome in the pub and the dining ranges from full meals to sandwiches and 'light bites'. Come along and 'give us a try', you won't be dissapointed. The large, light and spacious pub has a dining area, plus a bar and 'reading room' to relax in. Booking is advisable on 01394 461030 but we welcome 'walk in' diners and our menu changes daily, using local produce and quality ingredients.

“The most perfect wedding celebration lunch, beautiful table for twelve in a gorgeous room, excellent food and fab service!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

A big thank you to Max and Polly and all the staff at The Crown in Ufford. We all had the most wonderful time, all our guests have since complimented you all on the service and food.
We booked the Crown for a 12.30 lunch for 12, the tables were rearranged to accommodate our needs, a menu of 5 starters, 5 mains, 5 desserts and coffee was put together between myself, Polly and chef for our guests to choose from on the day. (I hate pre ordering and wanted to avoid a set menu)
Service was attentive and fast, however we were not rushed and enjoyed a lovely relaxed lunch.
Exactly what we wanted on our Wedding Day!

“Brilliant birthday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We went to the Ufford Crown pretty much because it was open on a Monday and close to Sutton Hoo. What a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent as was the service. Can’t wait for an excuse to go back.

“What a Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

We had booked a cottage about 3 mins walk from the Crown and went there first for lunch - wonderful. We came back for dinner another night and finally a lunch on the day before we came home. There was nothing negative we could say about the Crown. The meals were wonderful, cooked to perfection and arrived at the table nice and hot. The staff were outstanding - nothing was too much trouble for them and they were extremely friendly without being in your face. They have a white chocolate cheesecake which you have to try...scrummy. Not cheap but worth every penny and the wine was very good too and so was the ale. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and if we find ourselves in this area again we will definitely stop in for lunch or dinner. Thanks again for a lovely experience.

“Lovely lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

My wife and I popped in to the Crown on Saturday for lunch on the spur of the moment and were very impressed from the moment we entered to the time we left. We were greeted by a very friendly and charming young lady who took us straight through to the restaurant area of the pub which was already quite full. The menu (which changes daily) was exactly what a good pub menu should be - a few unusual dishes with the old favourites of fish & chips and steak '& Frites'. I had the 'featured' dish of the day which was a venison, shallot and mushroom pie which was superb and my wife opted for the fried plaice and chips which she declared wonderful - it certainly looked very good, large and very fresh. Puddings looked equally good - although my choice of passion fruit and chocolate tart had sold out so I ended up by having the cheese whilst my wife had the chocolate brownie which I can only assume from the look on her face was wonderful. Cost for the lunch with a pint of Victoria ale, pint of Aspall cider and a glass of wine was £50 - which is not the cheapest lunch you'll find but to us worth every penny.
I understand that the owners of the Crown have now taken over one of my favourite pubs - the Ramsholt Arms on the River Deben. Will definitely wend our way there soon!

“Fantastic Evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Booked a group of 13 into this pub for a birthday meal as i have heard good things about this place and we were not disappointed. We were booked in to a room set aside from the bar and restaurant and i must say it was A perfect location for a large group as you can chat and laugh without feeling that you are disturbing any other guests. Being tucked away from the main restaurant did not affect the service at all as the friendly staff came through every 5 mins to check we were all ok and looked after us throughout the evening.
As for the food, I think i can speak on behalf of the whole group that it was amazing. Every plate was empty and there was not one grumble to be had. The plates were hot, the food was presented well and tasted even better. It was nice to finally go out with a group and have every meal turn up on time and to top it off the 4 steaks at the end were cooked perfectly. Would recommend this place to all my friends without fear that they may be let down......
Thank you to all the staff... Will see you soon i'm sure
