I stayed for a week in the Palais Kraft hotel in Zurich, on a business trip. Wonderful hotel, especially if you're looking for something a little different. The thing is, no one in Zurich, including the cab drivers, has ever heard of the place. That's because the hotel is just one floor of a much larger building that houses a liposuction clinic, among other businesses. But don't let that put you off. The advantages of it more than make up for it. The few rooms that make up the Palais are:
1. Spotlessly clean and excellently maintained.
2. They have kitchennettes with stove, dishwasher, expresso machine, and full size refrigerator. And the room comes with a cell phone that you can carry with you and use for local calls.
3. The fridge is kept stocked with soda, beer, wine, whiskey, ice cream, chocolate, juice, yogurt, bottled water and other things. And fresh fruit, potato chips, and coffee are always stocked to the room as well. And all of it, is free. That's right, FREE. And breakfast (juices, breads, yogurt, cereal, milk, etc) is placed outside your door each morning.
4. The rooms have wireless internet access and many have direct patio access.
The guy who runs the place, Martin Frank, is the extremely helpful and always available for any needs. I've never been in a hotel with better service. The price was 330CH a night.
So if you don't mind having to explain to your cab driver that, yes, that big white building at 33 Kraftstrause actually contains a hotel, try the place out!
