“Low-cost and convenient for a stay near the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2010

During a flight stopover in Zurich, I was looking for a place near the airport to spend the night and found this hotel to fit my needs.

It's a fact that the location is bleak: an office neighbourhood, far away from any entertainment.
But as far as I can tell through my own experience, the same can be written about "airport hotels" in most cities, so this was not a surprise to me.

The thing is that this hotel is good at what it's designed for, i.e. it’s not targeting people who'd like to visit Zurich and enjoy an entertaining atmosphere, but provide cheap yet clean and comfortable accommodation near the airport.

The hotel runs a free shuttle to and from the airport every half hour.
Please note that this shuttle doesn't run 24 hours a day: check with the hotel before booking, in case your flight arrives/departs at night.
Finding the IBIS van upon my arrival in the evening was easy and I was lucky to meet a nice friendly driver, speaking Swiss German, but also English since married to a Sri Lankan.

The hotel was the usual IBIS scene: well-organized and perfectly maintained, but unfortunately in this case, with nothing more than a polite welcome and a room with a surprisingly tiny bathroom (see pictures).

But for only 60 EUR, the hotel offered me a hassle-free stay and quite a lot of value for money (especially since I stayed away from its somewhat overpriced restaurant).

Rooms are very small. Although the room was clean , it was not very familiar and friendly place at all. Breakfast can be told "average" for Switzerland. Parking place was large enough .

On my second stay, I was given an old worn and smelly room. I asked to be chaged but was confronted my a general manager with an attitude. He had no concept that he is in a customer relations role. Never again will I stay at this Accor property.

We stayed here for one night. We booked this hotel because it was cheap and close to the airport with a free shuttle service. Our plane was delayed and the shuttle service does not run after 11pm so we had to pay for a taxi CHF 30. The website does not state what time the shuttle bus runs from and to so be sure to call and check with the hotel if you arrive late or depart early.

It's an Ibis so room is VERY basic - not even a hand towel in the bathroom - only 2 small towels! Not the best Ibis we have stayed in either - slightly dated and worn out. Staff were unfriendly and room was a bit chilly as they turn the heat down at night time.

We wouldn't stay here again - you are better off to stay in the city centre (as we did on our return to Zurich) or at an airport hotel that has a shuttle bus that runs late.

Hi

Stayed at the Ibis zurich airport for one night on the last day of my Europr trip. This is a nice little hotel about 10 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel has a free shuttle service which is very convenient , the shuttle leaves twice a hour from the hotel and the airport.

The room is small but then hotels in europe generally have small rooms. The rooms as well as the hotel is clean and well maintained. It is a nice hotel more suited for busniess travellers .

This is a classic Ibis hotel, clean, basic, very predictable and sole less as most Ibis hotels. If you are on a short trip then it is good for the airport, with a free bus ever 30 mins to and from the airport. The breakfast is even more basic than in the French Ibis hotels I stay in, so unless you really need it, forget it and get something at the airport.

Once at the airport you can get into the city on the train on a very good service, trains every 10 / 15 mins, costing about 8€ return straight into the city centre.

We stayed here for five days while we were in the process of moving from Zürich back to New Zealand. Since we already knew the city, it was a snap to take the trams back to town - even if we didn't, the stop is literally out the door - and there are two within a seven minute walk. The location is safe. The hotel is clean. And, the people are helpful. My internet happened to go out a lot (not sure whether it was my computer or the hotel), but the computer guy gamely wandered up to reset the connection whenever it went out - no complaints. This is a great hotel to stay at. There are a few restaurants down the blocks. And, some lunch places. I'd stay here again in a millisecond. Besides, it could not be closer to the airport.
