“Amazing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Stayed at the Gotthard hotel for 3 nights on a business trip and everything was simply amazing. The hotel is right in the middle of everything, conveniently located, close to the train station and main landmarks.
The city is pretty calm and restaurants are close by. Bear in mind that after 9pm most restaurants are closed.

Stayed May 2015, traveled on business

Let's be clear, Switzerland is expensive so budget travelers should steer clear. My wife and i were traveling through Central Europe and were transiting in Zurich and had a day and a half to kill so i decided to stay at St. Gotthard for its central location. It is literally twenty steps from the Zurich HB rail station and is located on the fancy and exclusive Bahnofstrasse which is Europe's if not the world's most expensive retail real estate. The street is lined with designer stores and cafes and stretches from the train station to Lake Zurich. The old town is also a mere 5 mins walk from the hotel. Also for all H&M fans there's one right in the building with a few more (4 i think) down the street.

For the hotel itself, we were given a room on the 4th floor but in reality it was midway between 3rd and 4th floor with no lift access so had to either drag our heavy bags up or down a few stairs which was not too much of a bother really. The room was large but smelled a little musty. Free WiFi in all rooms which is a good thing. We requested to have the room cleaned which they promptly agreed to. Also another thing to point out is you won't get too many friendly smiles from the staff members except from one individual, Mr. Deha Turkl,, who was very sweet and we were lucky to have him at check in and check out. Overall the hotel although a bit pricey which again i would say is average for Switzerland, is a good place to stay purely owing to its location on the Bahnofstrasse.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Bahnofstrasse on a higher floor

spent 2 nights at this hotel on a business trip.Hotel was clean, albeit the rooms a wee bit small. The location of the hotel in central Zurich was very convenient with 3 minutes walk to the railway station.Breakfast was buffet with a reasonable variety.I would definitely visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: back rooms have lesser train noise for those who are sensitive

Stayed for one night in the hotel, bed wear was of extremely low quality and triggered huge allergic reaction. Had to pump myself full of meds to get through a very bad night of sleep, which ruined my next day of meetings.

In the morning, coming out of the shower i realized there were only hand towels on the towel rack, felt like i was being pranked.

I have stayed there in another occasion, but was provided a much better room. The Standard room is rather Spartan. If you are staying there, pray you're lucky.

Fantastic location just 2 minutes from the train station and in the middle of the shopping area. Very clean as well, but the rooms are somewhat old style and fairly small. Make sure you get a room on the court, so that you are sure it is very quiet. Wifi connection quite good.

Room Tip: Get room on the inner court - no nice view but at least very quiet

Dear DCKB,

thank you for your great review. we are very glad that you liked our location, hotel and service.
Our rooms are air conditioned and the windows are doubble isolated, but you are right, on the court side there is no noise from the world famous Bahnhofstreet.

Your recommendations are highly appreciated and we hope to welcoming you again during your next stay in Zürich.

Stayed at this hotel on a Trip Advisor recommendation and were not disappointed, Close to the train station and the staff was very helpful. Room 534 was quiet and cozy. Also enjoyed the Hummer & Austernber Restaurant. Ask for Mr. Mann or Leon for great service.

Room Tip: Room 534 was perfect.
