We stayed in Hotel Scheuble for a short break betwen Christmas and New Year.
Our room had a contemporary ambiance, was clean but was small which is what one expects of a Swiss city centre hotel, but may be a disappointment if used to airport or American hotels.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
There is a small breakfast area, although when we stayed this was closed for refurbishment and we had a short walk to a neigbouring property for breakfast.
The hotel is located very close to the River Limmat and within walking distance of both the station and the lakeshore. We arrived by train from Zurich Airport and didn'tuse taxis / trams at all.

The Scheuble offers very good value for single travelers on weekends. Book your stay directly with the hotel and benefit from an excellently priced weekend package. I was assigned a nice and well kept room to the quiet backyard which was perfectly adequate (not so much so if the room ist let out as a double room - then it is indeed a tad too small). Breakfast was good - the only draw back being the very limited restaurant space: when fully booked people have to stand in line waiting for a vacant table. In addition, they ran out of bread rolls on two consecutive days which simply should not happen, especially if there are still 10-20 guests about to arrive for breakfast. Friendly staff and central location are also a plus.

On our recent stay in the Hotel Scheuble, the staff were all helpful and the breakfast consistent, pleasant and served in a cosy area.

However, the bedroom was easily the smallest we have stayed in anywhere in the world. Only one of us could move around the bed at a time and setting out our luggage was a real problem. There were also a number of stains on the walls and curtains.

The hotel is well-placed for visiting the old town and tourist attractions, is a convenient stroll to the commercial centre and is accessible to transport options. However, the size of the room was such that we would not again consider staying at this hotel
