“Tries to be chic....... and fails”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

The lobby was crowded by the European Tour Bus crowd.

The rooms were supposed to be modern and chic. Instead they come off as cold and sterile. The entire hotel comes across as overly sterile.

The hotel is too far from the city center.

The other Zurich Renaissance is a much nicer experience.

On the plus side-- the concierge lounge was superb. Nice view. Great food and drink. It gets pretty crowded on weekdays, though.

Stayed a couple of times in the renaissance for a business trip.

The hotel is nice, can't fault it, although it is probably more of a business hotel than a leisure hotel as it isn't very inspiring location-wise. There are lots of conference rooms and business facilities. There is also a small gym but no pool.

Breakfast selection is good.

Would go back.

You can't go wrong with a Renaissance Hotel and this was no exception. Hotel staff on check-in was fully prepared for my arrival, offering me a glass of prosecco, while checking in. Prior to that I was sent an email confirmation of my arrival. This hotel is a new business hotel with a large lobby bar and business areas, located in the new Zurich West District. There are several good restaurants nearby but for dinner I chose Studers for authentic Swiss food in a pub atmosphere a little farther away but still within walking distance. There is a lot of construction going on all around the hotel and not much in the way of greenery yet. You are entirely safe walking about the neighborhood and the hotel itself is ultra-modern and chic with walk-in glass showers, dark granite counters and floor, while the rest of the room had the heavenly bed with wooden floors. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Zurich, but a word of caution: the cab to the airport runs about 80.00USD,

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of Zurich with floor to ceiling glass windows, The rooms are amazingly quiet...

The hotel generally was good. The navigator Daniel was great, very welcoming and friendly. Best receptionist i have ever met! Rooms were great, the size, bed, etc...

However, we ordered room service breakfast for 9:45am-10:00am for Sunday morning with the door hanger breakfast. However, on Sunday morning I waited till 10:01 am.. nothing came. I rang the guest service, and was told it was only 10am, and she will check it. I waited till 10:15am, nothing came. I had to call again and said I want to cancel it if it aint coming, and was told, she will check it again. It finally came at 10:20am. We were going to lunch with friends and had to cancel the lunch as we were too full as the breakfast was late.

It said on the order hanger that if it did not come during the time requested that we would get full refund. however, it didnt happen and we had to pay for it.

Apart from that, others were great.

The hotel in very nice but in an area of the city with square buildings and not the warmth I've experienced in other areas of Switzerland. But the food was great, the staff was very friendly and professional, the rooms were ultra modern and clean, the executive lounge was great and the hotel is close to the train station. I would recommend it!

Wonderful modern hotel half a block from a trolley station. Ultra quiet hotel offering high end modern décor throughout. Individual rooms were chic and ultra modern. Downstairs bar/lounge has food service -- don't miss the fish and chips! Breakfast buffet had a large variety of fresh fruits, baked goods and various hot entrees. Service from all staff at hotel was very professional and courteous. Front desk staff was especially friendly. Don't let the construction in the surrounding area put you off -- this hotel is a jewel.

We liked the hotel and the club room was great for internet and food. The location was rather depressing and the hotel had no pool which was a bummer as we really liked swimming after being in a car all day traveling around this lovely country.
Room was great no faults and the beds very comfortable. Staff were professional and very polite. We winced at the parking cost associated with the hotel at 35 euros a night. But since we were on points it was no big deal. It appears this hotel caters to business group meetings and not tourists. Swiss Life had taken a large block of rooms at the hotel and Swiss Comm was across the street and they used the property. (BTW: Swiss Comm your internet and phone service SUCKS throughout Switzerland)
