“Comfortable, affordable B&B in Zurich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2010

Stayed with my husband and our 3yo for one night in September as we passed through Zurich. It was a nice, comfortable place to stay and the breakfast in the cafe downstairs was plentiful and delicious. The area was a little rough around the edges, but it was central and public transport was handy. We spent the afternoon in a busy nearby playground and in the evening caught the tram to the old town (where we had wonderful fondue at La Dezaley). Excellent value for money in Zurich.

The B&B is located a 20 min walk from main station which is handy as a lot of day tours depart from the bus station near here.

The room I had was a decent size for a single person who was never there. The mattress was better than the one I have at home as was the shower. I was on the second flor which is a min-flat. It has three bedrooms and the occupants of these share the bathroom and their own kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with all utensils and you can cook your own food there...has a dish washer too.

Breakfast was good and plentiful inc cherry jam, oven warmed selection of bread/criossants and fantastic ham. The landlady was great to talk to, full of advice and lent me her own adaptor plug after I'd realised I'd brought the wrong one.

This is a fantastic place, very clean, quiet, relaxed atmosphere and great value for money in an expensive city.

Susanne is a very cool lady, and I can gladly recommend to stay at Dakini's if you need a simple place in Zürich. It's not a luxury option, but clean and safe. Like the other reviewer, I as well enjoyed eating Susanne's breakfast and the conversation. We felt very welcome!

Ask for a room with a balcony, it was a nice place to sit in the morning while trying to shake the tiredness from last night's Langstrasse bar crawl :)

A Zürich tip: take the train to Schaffhausen, a 50 min trip. A nice little town, good atmosphere. Visit the IWC museum if you're into watches or technology in general. You can walk an hour to the Rhine Falls (or take the bus), and then take the train back to Zürich again from Neuhausen.
