“Quite nice....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

We stayed in the Park Hotel once and the room was ok, it even had a kitchen! The restaurant is quite good, we went there for Christmas Eve and the atmosphere was great! Great music, great food.... We also went there for a brunch, great value for money but although there were a few tables free in the restaurant they made us sit in the lounge! Not very correct..... and as it was quite late it was clear no one was coming to occupy those tables! Another thing I don't appreciate is that they have a very cozy bar which often has live music which we love. We would go there more often if it wasn't for the fact that the bar is for smokers! Not fair to condemn the non-smokers to sit in the reception area, not able to enjoy the music while the smokers have all the rights! We live nearby and could go there quite often but well, not to bathe in smoke surely?

The pool is quite poor so is the gym. The gym is quite hot, no fresh air and too small. The pool is outdated, not really an agreable space at all! Needs updating urgently! Also a pity that there is no outside pool as we will sometimes be here in the summer! The personnel is very helpful and very nice!

Room Tip: The street in the front of the hotel is quite busy, better choose a room at the back especially as t...

Very clean property. A bit of a walk to the train station but not too bad. A bit away from the old part of the city, but still close enough that walking isn't inconvenient. Breakfast is an extra charge of 24 francs which seemed very high to me. My room had a kitchenette which I thought was convenient as I was there for a week on business and was more easily able to eat in my room.

This place has become my favourite for lunches. On Mondays, there is a large buffet with appetizers and salads followed by a smaller one for the main course. It's all you can eat! and you don't leave hungry!
I usually don't take deserts but the ones on the buffet are nicely presented and look delicious!
Tuesdays through Fridays various changing menus are offered and all at decent prices. The food is fresh, eg. the shrimps haven't been frozen and are as tasty as if Zug was located by the sea.
I would recommend reservation.

This is a good no-frills hotel that is very suitable for a business trip. It is also convenient as a base to explore the area if you are a couple and are not overly concerned about how fancy your room will be. The location is very central, only a hop from the main commercial center and the train station, although it is quite quiet (well, all of Zug is quite quiet in fact!).

Wireless internet is available, although not free. There are a number of things for sale in the room, in addition to the mini-bar fare, something that may be convenient if items have been left behind in the haste of packing for a business trip.

In general make sure that you ask what the charges are for things, as the reception staff tends not to take the time to inform you if something is complementary or not. I would say that this is the week point of the hotel, as staff seem to be a bit indifferent to the client, especially during off hours.

I stayed at this hotel in conjunction with a conference and it was comfortable and very convenient for this purpose. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean and well appointed. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of things to choose from and the quality of the food was great. Unfortunately I didn't have an opportunity to try out the pool.

I probably wouldn't choose to stay here for holidays, but the hotel provided a convenient place to stay for business purposes. Given the business nature of the hotel, it's a little cheeky that they request CHF9 per day to use WIFI.

Room Tip: Ask for a park-side room, the rooms at the front can be a little noisy.

We stayed in the separate "apartment" part of the hotel, which would have been very comfortable in any month but August. It was in the 80's and there's no air conditioner, plus the windows are very small so the chance of a breeze in the daytime is minimal. They provide a fan, which I guess helped a little. What was really nice, though, was the shower--great pressure and temperature, plus it moves up and down, which is a bonus if you're tall. And the bed is super-comfy, even if they give you only 2 flat pillows.
