The Chateau de Chillon is one of the most enchanting places I've ever been to! I'm not sure how drastically the environment there changes from season to season, but I went in July and it was fantastic! Not only is it amazing to think you're walking through a castle that could possibly be 1000 years old, but the beauty of everything is absolutely breathtaking!! From inside the castle, every window offers another lovely view-- whether it's one of the flower-filled courtyards, a view of the snowy mountains, or (my favorite) Lake Geneva!! Plus, you get to go on a guided tour, walking through ancient rooms and even the dungeon upon which Lord Byron based his poem "The Prisoner of Chillon." (One can even see where he etched his name into a stone pillar!) If you are going to this area of Europe, you HAVE to (I repeat, HAVE to) go to this incredible castle! Please! You'll be glad you did! It's been a year since I went there and I still think about it and how gorgeous it is. I'd go back today if I could! Go there!
