“Definitely best hotel in Montreux”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

A chrarming and romantic place for those who seek ultimate romance and comfort in Montreux. Breakfast is rather simple for the hotel of such a level. Spa on the other hand is perfect. Location and design as well.

We stayed at the Fairmont for only one night, and I was sorry to leave. Our beautiful room had a lake view. The room itself was luxurious and beautiful. It had a small balcony with a bistro table and two chairs, perfect for morning coffee. (Espresso maker in the room) The bed was outstandingly comfortable. The electric blinds blacked out the room to perfection. The staff was warm and welcoming. It was my birthday, and the concierge sent up a lovely fruit platter. Outdoor and indoor pools are lovely and well maintained. Every afternoon, an attendant walked around with a tray of cut melon and pineapple, kiwi and strawberries (complementary) that were amazingly delicious. The hotel itself is a classic beauty. I hope we have a chance to stay there again.

We are talking real luxury here, right by the lake with top of the notch rooms and an incredible Spa facility.
Our room was set in the modern wing of the hôtel, which is my favorite place ( the old wing is very grand and has that old fashioned side to it many people like). It has been done very tastefully and has that almost homey feel to it. Make sure To enjoy the terrasse if the weather is nice as the view are fantastic over the lake and the Alpes.
On the To do List of the place, take time to enjoy the Spa ( a 2 hour is a minimum) and do get some breakfast ... It yummy!!

Stayed for three nights and wish it had been longer. The location, rooms, staff, fitness center, and breakfast were all great. With the location directly on the lake, the town is at your doorstep. Several great and affordable restaurants within walking distance.

I stayed at this property with my husband and 11year old daughter. We stayed in room 507 on the lake side. We have been touring Switzerland which has been particularly hot.
When we stepped on to the property it was instant rlaxation. Our view of the lake and the French side was spectacular. We had two balconies and soaked up the view from both.
The pools are well kept and very clean. The only drawback is that children under 16 are not allowed to swim in the indoor pool until after two.

We left our room for a late lunch only to return to find bright yellow awnings down to shield our room from the sun. We popped out again for some ice cream. When we came back, they had been put up.
This leads me to the service issue. Service in the restauraunts, the pool area and for the rooms was impeccable. If we raised a finger someone was there to help.
The rooms have been updated to comfotable and luxurious elegance. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are large with seperate tub and shower. The halls and the entire building have been restored and updated to their original splendor.
The breakfast was included in our rate and had everything from omelettes to salads.
We ate by the pool and at the restauarant across the street. The food was great and actually offered a wonderful children's menu.
Should I ever return, I won't stay anywhere else.

This property is not cheap so get ready to dig deep. All I have to say is its worth it.

Room Tip: lake view room if you can.

fabulous location overlooking the lake, and a splendid style from years gone by. Great breakfast. Lovely public rooms. But none of this comes cheap. A bit of a shame that there is a road between the hotel and the pool area (but there is an underground route within the hotel) and a bit of a shame that there is a public promenade bretween the pool area and the lake, but this is still Montreux's premiere hotel. Would stay here again.

The location is beautiful, the rooms were renovated but you need to add in the room a watch and also some night lights- because is completely dark if you switched off the light. The lobby of the rooms is still old fashion and it doesn't fit to the rooms. We had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel, the food was ok, nothing spectacular but the service quality was very poor, we had to hunt an waiter to call him and get some water or take the plates after we finished the meal

Room Tip: ask a room with lake view
