“Wonderful old world charm with all the mod cons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Had a wonderful 2 day stay at the Lausanne Palace and Spa. Had a lovely room at the front of the hotel with a really characterfull bathroom. Agree with other people's comments re the lovely wide coridors, which really gives a sense of grandeur to the place as well as the pleasant surprise when being told that the mini-bar was free of charge and cleanliness and service being top notch. We had the opportunity to spend time in the spa facilities as well and they were wonderful and well maintained. There was just something about this hotel - it had a lovely atmosphere about it, not only because it was very nicely decorated for the Xmas period. Would definately recommend this hotel when staying in Lausanne.

Dear Vogel1,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Lausanne Palace & Spa. We were delighted to hear about your good experience. You must come back to visit as of mid-November when our Christmas decorations are up. The interior ones are changed every year.

We hope to welcome you back when your travels next take you to Lausanne.

Best regards,

A heritage hotel that get the details right. It's hard to imagine a new hotel being built with the quality and wide corridors as this. As one would expect in a Swiss hotel, the cleanliness is outstanding - not a small feat when all the fittings are metal and it is a high labour cost country. I had a short stay with time only for breakfast, which was fantastic. The service is what great European service should be discreet, quiet, helpful and there when you need it. A totally different concept of good service than from Mumbai where I was coming from

The hotel is beautiful, both the public spaces (in particular the swimming pool) and the rooms. They decided recently to make the rooms mini bar free, which is a nice gesture. Conveniently situated at walking distance from the train station.

Very nice location close to the center nicely decorated with fanatastic concierge desk (forgot a bag in the taxt, but they took care of it and got it back within 15 minutes only), also power plug was offered directly when checking in (what avoids going down again after having found out that you don't have one ...).

The breakfast offers extremly wide range of options ... you have to go for the Bircher Musli, but also the freshly prepared stuff is great quality,

I was upgraded to a Junior suite with plenty of space and all you need is there (high speed WLAN, etc.) coupled with free drinks in the Mini Bar ...

Time is money ... check out was extremly quick and the people take care very much of the details (like correct company address on the invoice when having handed over the business card during check in...).

The bar and restaurants on site offer high quality food and drinks surrounded by pleasant service.

For me the Lausanne Palace is the place to stay when coming to Lausanne.

The Lausanne Palace and Spa lives up to its reputation - the staff are courteous and eager to please, and the building and surroundings are a joy to be in. The rooms, especially those with a view over Lake Geneva to the Alps, are magnificent, and spending an hour having a slow breakfast was a real delight. It is definitely worth saving up for!

It all depends on what you're into. I stayed here for business and it was very nice. The rooms were a little bit slow to be ready (I arrived early so that's on me, but I was told 4 or 5 times it was almost ready and I didnt get in until 2 hours later!) Fortunately, it's in a great location and it was an excuse for me to take a walk around Lausanne. The staff was nice and made up for the delays and made you feel like you were important. Because it was a business trip, I didn't have time to try out all the spa and pool type amenities, but from a quick look it was nice. As I opened with, it depends on what you're into. Personally I'd rather be in a wildlife lodge instead of being pampered with a marble bathroom, robes, slippers, etc. I think of hotel rooms as somewhere to sleep, not somewhere to vacation. It's about the location, not the lodging! Not complaining, just seems like the cost benefit isn't quite worth it for my personal liking. I must say I was entertained that the light controls at the side of the bed also control powered shutters that let you block out every single photon of light (good for that post-flight nap!).

We stayed here for 6 days in October and loved it. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which had a lovely balcony and spacious bathroom. To our pleasant surprise, the fridge had free beverages. The city is hilly with cobblestone streets but elevators are found at convenient locations and the walk is healthy. The hotel is across from an outdoor elevator that brings you to the subway and is one stop from the train station [no taxi needed].
