“Exceeded my expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

We spent three nights at the Parnass in July 2012 in a family reunion. The rooms were spotlessly clean and most had incredible views of the Matterhorn. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and the dinners were delicious. The location was very convenient to everything downtown, and yet it was quiet and relaxing. The only noise we heard at night was the sound of the rushing stream next to the hotel. Theresa, the owner, and her staff were incredibly friendly and focused on making our stay the very best experience we could imagine. It far exceeded our expectations and we recommend it heartily to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a Matterhorn View

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Just returned from an easter break in Zermatt, we stayed at the parnasse in a family group of 13, Theresa who owns and runs the Parnasse hotel was on hand to greet us on arrival, she was happy, smiley and welcomed us like old friends! The hotel is first class in all departments, firstly its location is central to the town, and you can see the ski bus arrive just outside the hotel entrance, all bars and restaurants are just minutes walk away. The rooms are dated, BUT they are absolutely spotless, the showers are powerful and hot, and there was nothing that we wanted that we didn't have. The breakfasts are great and dinner each night was a banquet! the food was cooked and served superbly, and all the staff we met were happy and could never do enough for us, the restaurant is run by 2 waiters and a waitress, they were brilliant, thank-you. On Easter Sunday our table was covered in chocolate eggs, a lovely touch to a great stay, Thank you Theresa, we are all ready planning our 2013 trip!

Room Tip: I think the majority of the rooms have Matterhorn views, you only have to request one when booking...

Just back from a week's stay at The Parnass Hotel in Zermatt. Great hotel, and both Theresia the owner, and her staff are incredibly helpful & friendly. Rooms are spotlessly clean, showers are hot & powerful, and the food is delicious. Location is great and close to everything you need - plus the bus to the ski lifts stops right outside the hotel which is ideal. My boyfriend stays here every year for the "boys ski holiday in December" and I know they love it too - so this was the first time I had stayed. Thank you Theresia, we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the front, so you can get a Matterhorn view !

This hotel is excellent value for money given how expensive Zermatt can be. We paid 320 CHF per night for two people with half-board (i.e. breakfast and a very filling dinner included – drinks with dinner not included). Theresia is lovely in person and in her email communication during booking. The hotel is less a 10 minute walk from the train station (ask for a map and directions from the information desk right outside the train station). Our room was large, cosy, had a warm heater, comfortable beds and linen (pillows are a bit soft in our opinion but we did not ask if there were any alternatives), plenty of cupboard space and a TV. We paid extra for the Matterhorn view room and this was definitely worth it (there’s a balcony for you to take some good photos or you can enjoy the view through the large windows). The bathroom is simple but large. The shower (over a bathtub) has good hot water. There’s a great towel warming rack also. You can pay a small fee for wifi in the room (I believe wifi is complimentary in the lounge area). We had a room on the second floor – there is a lift. In the basement, there is a great ski boot warmer and large area to put your skis. The hotel is also in easy walking distance to the Sunnega Paradise ski lift. Breakfast is simple yet tasty, however there are no hot foods (there are breads and croissants, cold meats and cheese, cereal, muesli, fruit, tea/coffee, etc.) Dinner is very good. Each night there were four to five courses – quite tasty and very filling. Half-board is great value considering how expensive the restaurants could be, but if you’d rather go out and explore other options then you can do so as well. The staff here are very friendly and very helpful (they gave us information on our first day about hiring ski gear and organising a lesson). Overall, a very comfortable stay in a truly beautiful village.

When we visited Zermatt in August of 2011, I wasn't sure which hotel to stay in. I asked the owner to show me the rooms and I noticed right away the warm & hospitality.

The owner was wonderful, I love her garden and passion for flowers. Those small cactuses in different colors, liven the dining hall with the magnificent view of the Matterhorn..

Great service and clean rooms! Just a bit far from the train station but taxi is very accessible. Will definitely recommend to friends & family.

Stayed here for the second time this February. Nice, very clean room with lovely balcony and view of the Matterhorn. Food and service was very good, the staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. The position of the hotel is good in that it is within easy walking distance of the Sunnega lift. The Flexrent rental location is excellent, right opposite the Sunnega and you can leave your skis and boots there overnight and pick them up warm in the morning as they have special heated places to leave them. 10% discount too if you are staying at the Parnass. Definitely ask for a room at the front with the view of the Matterhorn - they are more expensive but well worth it.
