The Schweizerhof is a cousin of the better known Mont Cervin Hotel in Zermatt. From the outside the hotel looks from unassuming, but inside it's a warm and pretty wonderful place. Actually, it is physically a bit too warm- even though we were there in December we had the windows open all the time because the heat is on all the time, and there is no effective way to control it. The men and women at the front desk are extremely dedicated and hard working- to the point where, even though the hotel was fully booked when we were there, they always greeted us by name when we came and went. Breakfasts were quite good (although without variation), and the afternoon tea a nice touch after a day on the slopes. Location is just down the road from the train station which made getting to the slopes quite easy. We didn't have a Matterhorn view from our room, but we still had a lovely view of the back of the hotel, where we could see children ice skating and playing hockey on the two rinks, and the mountain range beyond. I gave it 4 stars because of the heating system. Furniture was quaint and kind of rustic, but this isn't the Four Seasons. There is not gym, but I was able to use the gym at the Mont Cervin down the road. All in all I highly recommend.
Higher floors are quiet. If you can get a room in the "attic" you'll feel like you'...
