“Very luxurious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

I had a very good stay here. Its spacious and beautiful. The scenery is great, and the location is very good, around a 15 minute walk from the city centre. The gym, spa and pool were all very good. Overall, I enjoyed it.

What a luxury! This hotel is amazing! Well decorated rooms with wonderful views over the lake, very friendly staff with an outgoing and friendly hotel manager that greated us when we arrived. It fits perfectly into the wonderful landscapes of Lugano and Ticino. If you're looking at spending time in Lugano, you must come here!
We had dinner at the restaurant L'Artè just across the street that also belongs to the hotel. 1* Michelin and it's well worth it!

I spend at least 7/8 nights a year in this beautiful Palace on the shore of Lugano's lake for my work.. The rooms are well appointed and spotless and the service is excellent. The building dates from the mid XIX century and has been updated quite often. You can find all the modern amenities that a buisness man is looking for. The garden is well keep and the indoor swimming pool and SPA very modern. The restaurant deserves a Michelin star and in the morning an excellent breakfast is served. The only negative point is the noise that came from the road near by the hotel, especially early morning when people caming from near by Italy go to work in Lugano. It is very annoying if you sllep, as I do, with an open window.Prices are on line with the standard of the hotel (around CHF380). The hotel is member of small leading hotel of the world.

I have been to this hotel many times, and I love it!
I love its location, its setting, the understate elegance, and personalized service.
Each room is differently appointed, and has specatacular view of the lake. Breakfast on the balcony is a must in the warm wheater! Food is delicious, and they cook anything you ask, there is a lot of flexibility, and they have a healthy/ diet menu.

I loved the treatments at Clarins spa, and Cristiana is excellent.

I was there again just before Christmas, the atmosphere was joyous, and full of magic glitters, it reminded me in being a child and seeing the beautifull holiday decorations. it is worthed!

they do many small seminars which are in old high ceilings palace rooms, it feels you are in a private villa.
I do highly recomend it! and I will go again soon

I'm writing this review from my balcony of the hotel. Villa Castagnola it's a very grand a old luxury hotel. Although I prefer modern hotels. I am very much enjoying my stay. The staff are very helpful and service is great. Then food is excellent and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. I do feel like I've travelled back in time, but in a good way. Staying here makes me feel like I could be on set of an Italian movie or Vogue photo shoot. My husband and I did not get to bed till very late so asked out breakfast to be brought up to our room. They usually stop serving at 11:00 but were kind enough to bring us our food at 12:00. We order egg white omelettes and porridge, both were not on the menu, so we were very pleased with how accommodating the kitchen was. We ate on the balcony over looking the beautiful grounds with palm trees, lake and mountain peek. It's a stunning view to wake up to. If you like classic luxury I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Many Swiss hotels are of high quality in all respects. I have stayed in this hotel 5 times and I have not found a single thing that I can critisize. Of course this may not be the cheapest hotel in town but I think it is well worth the price. The service is impeccable, the rooms very good, the breakfast very good, the location very good. Free parking.

This hotel has the indefinite balance between perfect sercice, the very best food, excellent wines, great environments and a touch of cosyness.
It is very hard to find anything to complain here.

Room Tip: Get a high floor, if you want the best view over Lake Lugano.

In season lunch and dinner are served on the outdoor terrace, overlooking the garden and the lake. Top notch are the facilities offered for meeting and events: any event assumes a special distinction - a grand banquet or less formal luncheon, business meeting or conference, private party, dinner or wedding up to 120 people. A large and impressive venue is the Sala delle Palme, set to recall an oriental atmosphere with its Indian Rajastan panoplies and Afganistan doors dated XIX century. All our venues are appreciated for the day light and the unique ornamentation and for the unclenching rooms, private sitting-rooms, conference halls of different sizes such as Le Pavillon connected to the park trough the outdoor veranda, La Sala Delle Colonne, Sala Letizia, Sala Carlotta and Sala Ottavia, the Biblioteca and Sala Kwium.Villa Castagnola has a spectacular indoor swimming-pool with panoramic views over the gardens, a Wellness Corner, a Clarins Beauty Corner, a Danilo Hairstyling, a table-tennis room, outdoor hard court tennis fields and a private lake terrace.
