“A nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Yes, room 403 was a bit small for two although I was alone; there was a nice balcony with view. Room 310 was bigger, I noted. Staff very sweet and helpful. Free parking. Wifi worked fine. Not a far walk to town, though downhill. Bus 2 passes right by.
Nice breakfast.

If people want big rooms like in the US you are going to have to pay a huge amt in Switzerland (NYC, too!)

Room Tip: ask for the biggest one possible

I'd not say the hotel is bad. In fact, staff at front desk is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good and offers a variety of jam, cold cuts and cheese, cereal, fruit, eggs and juices. The rooms are basic and very clean. In fact, there is hardly anything in there that could become dusty. Except for the mattress, which had been in there too long for a person allergic to dust mites. In spite of a particular request when bookinng the room. Fortunately, it was still warm enough to sleep with an open window, and adding two antihistamines every night helped me out.

We got this hotel com our bernina express package. After the nice experience we had at Eden hotel in St.Moritz, we were a bit shocked when we entered our room in hotel Colorado the room is small , the bathroom is very tiny and I could hear all the sound from other rooms in the evening. Won't stay there anymore !

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Colorado this spring and it was great! The management was extremely helpful and friendly, and the continental breakfast was healthy and delicious. Our room was a little small but very clean, and the owners were cheerful every time we saw them, giving us lots of information about getting around and things to do. I would stay here again.

Not a fancy hotel, but adequate and a perfect location for our needs. The Avis rent a car business was right across the street and they were wonderful to deal with. It was just a short 20 minute walk to the train station which was one other reason we chose the location. The room was small but clean and the breakfast was ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful but we were happy to be spending only one night there. We had no view from our room.

I spent two weeks in Switzerland, staying in a different place every night, and of all the hotels, this was the lowest value. We did not make any reservations and we just happened upon the hotel, so we did not know what to expect. We were told the price of a double room was 210 CHF, but when we turned to leave the receptionist lowered the price to 160. That was the most we paid for a hotel the entire trip, but it was nighttime and we didn't have any better ideas, so we stayed.

The room was ok and clean, but there was this weird window looking into the bathroom from the room, so if you don't want the person you're sharing a room with to see you doing whatever you do in the bathroom, it's necessary to warn them that you're going in there. The other thing was that the sheet on the bed wasn't big enough. We oriented it so that it covered both of us, but then our feet were sticking out. If we oriented it the
other way, it didn't cover both of us. It was very difficult to sleep like this. In the middle of the night we decided it was worth it to go get our sleeping bags out of the car, but then we found a comforter tucked in a low shelf, so one of us got the sheet and one of us the comforter.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best we had throughout the trip, in a nice sunny room.

It wasn't bad once we got the covers situation figured out, but compared to the other places we stayed, this seemed a bad value.

Hotel room is well up to the standard of 3 star hotel, clean, quite and convenient, while the cost is reasonable. What impressed us most was the freindly attitude of the hotel desk manager. He provided us all useful informations such as places of interest, city map, discount cupons, etc.. One day we visited Lake Como, and were back to our hotel after 9:45pm. The desk manager met us at the door, and asked if we were okay? By that time the hotel resturant kitchen was closed, and he voluntarily cooked us a hot vegetable soup with fresh bread, which made a tasty quick meal. Our last day in Lugano was very hot, and when we returned hotel, we noticed there was a desk fan in our room. We appreciate very much the friendly attitude and thoughtfulnees of the hotel desk manager.
