“Comfortable newly renovated city centre hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

This is our second time in this hotel, and yet again we were very happy with our stay. The hotel has been recently renovated in all rooms and has a new spa, garage, fitness and breakfast room to finish the work.

This time around we were upgraded to a superior room, which whilst offering the same (good) amenities such as wide screen tv, comfortable beds, new bathrooms/shower, it is a little bigger than the standard double which from memory is quite small. The extra few chf needed for the superior room I would recommend now I have seen it and compared to a standard.

The hotel is right opposite the station (but not unsafe, nor is it loud) and only 5-10 mts walk from the castles and town centre - perfectly located. It has a small covered parking garage (terrible tight entrance), but also has other spaces in other garages nearby in the case their own garage is full.

The spa area is small but very well done, including sauna, jacuzzi, steam baths, salt rooms, relaxation and a small fitness area. If you go to a hotel only for "spa" you may find this a little tiny, but for the end of the day, after exploring the area and the castles, this is really perfect.

The new breakfast room is large, but also lacks a little passion and love - clear plastic chairs and grey tables lend rather austere and cold environment, and it could do with more "warmth". Feels a bit factory like. The buffet, also small, is enough for those not wanting a cooked breakfast, but be warned that some may find it inadequate. I can also imagine that if all tables were full, it would be simply chaos as people fight over the selection of food laid on one one table at the end of the room...

Free (but quite slow) wifi is available and staff were welcoming and friendly. All in all a really good and highly recommended hotel, which although not perfect does represent good value for money considering this is Switzerland!

Room Tip: The few extra chf for a superior room offer a lot more space - try to get one on the rear of the hot...

We spent one night at the Hotel Internazionale in Bellinzona and we were very satisfied with our stay. We were welcome by the general manager who had made sure all our specific requests for our 3 month-old baby were respected (cot, electric kettle, quiet room etc...). The room was modern and immaculate, we were told in advance that the hair dryer could not be fully efficient and that we could have a more powerful one at the reception. Breakfast is very nice, with local products. And last but not least, the new spa was the perfect option after a tiring day of driving! Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam were great and the venue is very peaceful and modern (the spa was built not very long ago). In terms of location, price, facilities, quality of staff we can only recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back the next time we will be in Ticino! Thanks to the whole team of Hotel Internazionale.

I travelled with a TV crew for a South African television show and we stayed at the Hotel Internationale during stay in the Ticino region. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the hotel director himself, who really took care of us during our stay. Even when we lost one bag with camera equipment the staff did their utmost to assist us.
The location of the hotel is great, right opposit the train station from where you can easily explore the region. It is also on top of the "shopping and entertaining mile" of Bellinzona.
The rooms were good, too. Clean, comfortable and quiet.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try the SPA. It looked very inviting though.
Another plus: there is a ristorante right next to the hotel with easy access from the hotel.
So, basically the Hotel Internationale offers anything you need for your stay.

We've stayed in this hotel for a long weekend & we had an amazing time. The location is great right opposite the train station, close to the old town & the castle. Staff is very nice & the rooms are clean and confortable! We need to go back to try out the new SPA they have now!

The location of the hotel is great - directly at the train station and very close to the city centre. The hotel has been renovated recently but quite a few (little) things could have been improved. Even if they are predominantly little things, in a hotel where you pay this much, you can expect a certain standard.

In the room for example, the hair dryer is useless, there is no toilet brush, the air con does not work very well and a very limited amount of hangers are available.

The spa is very small (sauna, turkish bath, whirlpool and relaxation room). There is no cold shower to use after the sauna but only a shower like construction that drizzles cold rain (fancy but useless). The whirlpool does not "bubble" at all but only has a few nozzles that massage.
It is quite incomprehensible that if you don't book online but book by e-mail or phone directly through the hotel, you pay for the use of the spa (while online bookings through their website include the spa entry fee).

The breakfast buffet is ok but could also be more elaborate (cheese and dried meat which is famous for the region). However, quite a big selection of fruit and sweets are available.

Dear guest,

Thank you for having taken the time to write a review on TripAdvisor. We are very happy to read that you liked the strategic location and thank you to have looked into details of our hotel structure. This brings us motivation to continue to improve our services. The points you mentioned have be considered by the management and with pleasure I answer to some matters:

the hairdryer is the typical one for hotels which, unfortunately, is not the most suitable for long hair. Here at the reception guests can borrow more powerful hairdryer. The toilet brush is the hose close to the toilet which can be used as a bidet as well. We copied the idea from an hotel in Italy. About the air-condition, due to the fact that we use a thermo pipe it is not possible to go below 20-21 degrees. At the reception guests can always ask for more hangers, we have a little stock in our office and with pleasure we can bring them in the room.

The size of the SPA is written on all our distribution channels and with pleasure I confirm that is 250m2 big. After the sauna there are the ice cubes to cool down the body temperature. Since the very beginning we decided to create a discrete and safe SPA, where people can really enjoy the relax. Correct, until now if somebody booked through our webpage, the SPA entrance is free of charges, otherwise it is an extra cost. This is a new selling process from hotelier. In fact we try to convince people to reserve directly on our webpage (some hotels offer the parking, others the breakfast, others city tickets, etc.). For our hotel this procedure can change in the future.

From July we serve the breakfast in our new wing and we made some changes about the products.

Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Best Regards
Michele Santini, Direttore

This is a nice hotel with nice people to assist you. The room is fairly basic but did not lack anything. Directly across from the train station and close to the attractions. The castles are more like forts to me as there was no interior aside from some towers. That being said, I found them very interesting. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast was included and was fine but not elaborate.

Room Tip: My room was only one level up so I took the stairs most of the time. The staircase is very open and...
